Well i keep reading from several places, that a lot of people who use frontline plus (which is what i use) say that it eventually stops working after a while. Meaning after a year, or after 2 years, varying by user.

So i had this idea of maybe alternating between treatments.
I usually get the treatments in cases of 3x or 6x.

So would alternating between treatments be bad?

Example: 3 continuous months, I'll use Frontline Plus, and 3 months following that i will use k9 advantix or whatever is second best.

I haven't done so yet, but i was just wondering if this is a good or bad idea.

thanks,

also, what are your favorite (works best) topicals for tick/fleas?

We use frontline plus and it has always worked, year after year, for fleas (which are not much of a problem here) and ticks, (which are vicious here and carry many diseases).

Perhaps the issue of losing efficacy happens in really bad flea areas, such as the southern USA?

The same thing happened to us. We used it on our dogs for 3 years, but this year it didnt work. We ended up treating our yard for ticks as they arent bad where we live fleas are the main problem. We started using a flea pill called comfortis that works really well. Not only does it kill the fleas, it repels them too.
