I'm not sure if they should smell. Tasha's never has, but I've never tried to smell them. Maybe ask your vet or groomer?

I
think it's normal for long-haired dogs to have eye boogers that smell a bit. My lab's short-haired, so never built up enough to matter or to smell, but I would remove my bichon's eye boogers during her baths, and they did have a distinct smell. My bichon had more tear-staining issues when she was a puppy, though. I had to wipe her eyes manically. As she got older, the staining wasn't so bad, although she still did get some eye boogers.
Question: any way to get rid of slobber stains along the muzzle of a long-haired dog? My bichon had some muzzle staining, but not so much to bother me, but I saw these photos of large dogs with staining, and it's pretty obvious. Do the products for tear staining work for the muzzle too?
