| Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide (or vinegar - it is much cheaper but leaves a salad like smell sometimes) and a dash of dish soap. I personally wash the dog down with the shampoo so that the solution will get through it's coat better. Then mix it up....about a 1/4cp soda to a quart of HO and a TBL of dish soap. I tend to take a bucket (do NOT try to mix this in a closed container...it is what science fair volcanoes erupt from) put in enough vinegar (gallons at Wally World) add the dish soap and baking soda, mix by hand and pour over the dog. I tend to sponge it onto their face....it is often where they get hit most but also you want to avoid soaking their eyes. (duh). Rub it in and let it sit if they will tolerate it. Sometimes for very stinky spots I have put a handful of baking soda on the spot and poured on the HO/vinegar. Rinse, shampoo, lather rinse....
I use this on many hunting dogs that come to the kennel. Other deskunkings tend to leave a residual smell that is evident if the dog gets damp....this is the best way so far. |

| Soaking the dog in mouthwash or tomato juice before bathing them are old tricks, but I question there effectiveness. I have found that this does works.
From: Deskunking Dogs, Cats, and Other Pets- 1 quart (or liter) of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, H2O2.
Use fresh (unopened) hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Hydrogen peroxide eventually turns into water (H2O). - 1/4 cup (50 ml.) of Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml.) of Liquid Soap
- 1 pair of plastic or latex gloves
To Use - Bathe the dog outside or, if it's too dark or cold, in the bathroom with the door closed and window opened.
- Combine the ingredients in an open container (do not store in a sealed bottle--it will explode).
- Using gloves, wash your dog with lukewarm water and the mixture while the mixture is bubbling. Work the mixture well into the fur.
- Be sure to concentrate on the area that was sprayed.
- Keep mixture away from your dog's face and eyes (it's a harsh solution). (If your dog has been sprayed in the face, try Tricotine Liquid Douche Concentrate or any over-the-counter douche.)
- Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes or so before rinsing off.
- Rinse the dog with lukewarm tap water. Don't wash the mixture into your dog's eyes (use a washcloth to cover the eyes if you're rinsing the head).
- After bathing, check your dog's eyes. If they are red and watering, your dog may have taken a direct hit in the face. Skunk spray won't blind the dog, but it's very painful. Contact a vet.
However, I prefer Natures miracle http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0010OJZ8S/...SIN=B0010OJZ8S

| natures miracle works pretty well on other organic stains/smells, and is recommended for skunk smell too, i would suggest that... it is expensive, but in a situation like this i would say worth it... also, you can spray it all over stuff in your house and it is mostly safe to use, like on carpets and furniture... |

| Never had it happen (though I was almost sprayed by a skunk once....mistook it for a kitty... lol) but grab febreeze for the house-open your windows for a few hours-and dust your carpets with baking soda and vacuum it up |

| Almost got sprayed personally but dogs never did. Try Lysol to clear out odors. |

| They have a ton of different shampoo's that work awesomely for skunk sprays... but before that, I'd try something more natural, like ScentHound said. Good luck |
