Short, single coat moult. Daft but what should I do?

Ben started a couple of days ago, I'm presuming because of the central heating being on most of the day now. He has very short, fine eyelash like hair and I don't like eyelashes - they remind me of dead insect legs - and it's all over my clothes and furniture.

More importantly, it's setting off my asthma.

He snuggled into me for a cuddle this morning and when I put him down, I was COVERED in hair and wheezing.

I've brushed him with a thick bristle brush and a short wire brush this morning and neither of them brought anything off him. He was good as gold thanks to the hotdog in my hand.

Any tips on brushes or techniques? Thanks.

And, having had a lab/goldie previously, who moulted all year round (with no adverse effects on my asthma) I don't know how long this is likely to last?

If he tolerates baths OK, I'd probably give him a bath. That will help loosen up the hair and get a bunch out all at once.

Other than that, I guess its over the counter allergy meds? ;)

Perfect! Thank you all. I've ordered the zoom groom! I'm also going to check with my consultant about the allergy meds. I'm on some pretty high dose preventers so it'll probably just need some tweaking. (I was tested a few years ago and wasn't allergic to dogs, but I guess they all produce different dander.)

He tolerates me washing him so I'll do that too. Not got so far as getting him in the bath yet. I have to do it at the back door with bribes. :D

You can also use moist dish gloves and pet your dog. It will pull the loose fur off him. You can also use this to clean clothes, furniture etc. Whenever the glove is full of fur, just rinse and continue. With short haired breeds you can also just use a damp warm cloth and wipe down your dog daily.
