Right now I have no participants- Zubin and lindse went to bed and Nina is still down here with us but Zubin is the one I could do his nail. But I promise- by 10am I will have a video posted. I promise. He went to bed and I never wake " a sleeping dog" .. But I would never sedate unless its life or death.. too many risks.
From what I read (and it was just for a few minutes because I get better information on this site LoL) it isn't a full sedation it just makes them groggy. Obviously I would rather not do that. But I have to be able to trim them. But she has to sit still.

I am sorry but that is too much a risk. If you are willing to risk your dogs life..
Anyway- years ago- I lost a normally health female in a spay- a simple spay- never have I taken sedation so lightly.. That is all I can say.

Amanda, what does the peanut butter do?
Does she pull away if she is tired or does she just let you do it? I may try tomorrow to take her for a bike ride and then try.
If she's just slightly tired, yes. If she's worn out, no. Although, if you took her on a bike ride and gave her pb while you trimmed her nails that might be a good combination.

The peanut butter is just a treat that takes a while to eat. I mean, they lick and lick the roof of their mouth trying to get it off. It's quite funny really. Just don't give a big gob all at once, don't want them to choke or anything.

YouTube - Dog Eating Peanut Butter

NOTE: Some dogs are allergic to peanuts.

Oh and you may want to offer a drink of water afterwards as peanut butter is a bit sticky. :P

Thanks Amanda. Im going to try that tomorrow. I will try first without the Peanut Butter and if I need it I will use it. Kelsey loves PB so I know she isn't allergic.

yes- you want to sedate your dog every 6 weeks instead of training the trim.. do I have this right? I can teach you how to do a trim if you wish..
