Mobile dog grooming

I am a certified groomer that has been working from my home since August. I planned on moving to from the beginning and the grooming is funding my move, while my normal minimum wage job payed my bills. Rather than opening a store, I was thinking of starting a mobile business. I can cover more area that way, and in my opinion, it is more convenient.

Grooming trailers run at about $20,000-30,000 and used they are not much cheaper. I was looking at some camping trailers which i can find for $1000-2000. They have a heating/cooling system and a bathtub. Would there be any problems with me gutting out most of it (like the kitchen and bed), and making it into a grooming van? I mean it has everything included that I would have difficulties putting together myself. I could give it a nice exterior paint job with my logo, you know?

The only thing is I haven't seen anything from my google searches about this, which makes me think no one does it for an obvious reason I am missing. What do you think?

I certainly think it can be done! You will just need ti factor in an adequate power source & strong enough water pressure if you're hydrobathing (& if you can easily run the water into the trailer) & the cost of installing any grooming equipment you want inside.

I use a mobile grooming service & she has a large van which has the grooming table, clippers, brushes etc & then she tows a trailer with a large hydrobath. She then takes water & power from my property.

Good luck with your business!

Oh & remember that you may need to charge your clients a little more to cover the cost of fuel/travel to their home...so if you have regular customers, you may loose some because of that, unfortunately.

truthfully, to avoid huge costs, I started doing mobile grooming. only problem, no vehicle. solution? I do it right in their house. I make sure to clean up well after myself, and as long as they have somewhere to bathe the dog, its all good. I actually have a lot of interest from people in it. it can be a little irritating if clients are annoying the dog and such, but I haven't had much of an issue yet. also in my release it says if you are going to excite your dog or interrupt the groomer we are allowed to leave whether the groom is finished or not and charge full price. I haven't had any issues with that, yet... lol
