Not that I know off, but I am extremely tired right now.

It is result of a failed thyroid (not low) and allergies. We figure her allergies are similar to hay fever for us. It is always worse in the fall and spring.

I don't know too much about cushings-more so in horses. It often presents with odd shedding (like giant winter coat in summer-and shedding in only certain areas) for them. Its a thyroid prob, but not totally read up on it totally

That sounds right-that allergies would be worse for them same times as it is for us

My Collie (Shilo) gets brushed about every other day, more because he enjoys it than mats etc.

My Great Pyrenese (Que`bie) gets brushed daily generally as his undercoat likes to mat up, so I stay on top of it (especially behind his ears)

My Rottie/Boxer mix (Jade) gets more of a rub down with a shamois type cloth as she seldom needs (or wants) a brushing).

Pearl and LeRoy are brushed daily. Pearl is really cooperative and doesn't have much of an undercoat so she does't take much time. LeRoy, however, is an entirely different story!

I brush Roxy probably 2 times a week. She doesn't really need it to look good. I brush her to help minimize shedding. Those darn pug hairs stick in everything like little needles!

Penny only gets a quick rub down with a damp washcloth once a week, sometimes every other week.

I usually only brush my husky mix after the winter season. Than I begin to wonder if I should shave him during the summer months, but than, seeing him hairless would just be too funny. (And a bit too devious for me.)

I brush Moose and Princess P daily. Moose has a Norwich terrier coat...so it is combed daily with a wide tooth comb. Princess P is a Maltese / Poodle mix...so neither shed very much...I think they would get very matted without the combing they get.

Not to mention dangerous. That coat also insulates from the heat.... they can have heat stroke easily if you shave that type of dog in the summer.

I forgot about that... How ever our summers end up being 60 to 65 degrees above 0 and this is usually accompanied with 5 to 15 mph of wind from the north. Although last year I was worried because we reached tempratures of over 75 degress. And he has a black coat and I was really feeling bad. Especially since the wind that was blowing was from the south. (hot) for us. anyways, back on topic.

I forgot to mention I usually give him a bath first and than brush him after the winter months. Than I would usually brush him three to two times a day. (He usually stinks really bad by the end of winter.)

Charlie so far does not shed at all except for a little bitty bit from the little white spot he has under his chest. I hope it stays that way because it will make cleaning the truck alot easier. LOL
