You're SO right! My husky doesn't seem to shed as much as my shorter haired dog! It's nuts.

I brush Billy every day. Well, it is more of a massage for him really. I use a flat plastic like glove with bobbles on it - no idea what it is called.

Thanks Fawkese-I will show that to my parent's-we don't really have carpet, and our furniture is leather-but I know my mom has trouble getting dog hair off the carpeted stairs at their house and that might be just the tool!!!

Sometimes I am good about it and othertimes I am awful. Tegan is a corgi (is mikey part corgi? Looks like...) and his undercoat is very out of control. I have a furminator, and I get him groomed professionally once and month. If I have a spare minute in the day I brush him... but our couch will tell you I don't do a good enough job! lol

He is part Corgi

But he almost has no undercoat. So far not needing a jacket, but not really developing an undercoat at all ? He almost has hair like fur too-it's not very soft (I mean it's soft and shiny healthy but he certainly does not feel like my parent's husky-soft) ? I dunno! He's certainly low maintenance though!

Yeah corgi hair isn't the softest... it's a little wirey unless it's fresh bathed and conditioned

That's true!
Mikey was actually pretty dandruffy when we brought him home. A busy shelter just can't really do the grooming needed He's really balanced out and not dusty at all now.

I brush Cleo daily only because she sheds constantly (thyroid), and missy when she runs off with the brush or when she wants some extra attention.
