If your dogs skin is good with that, not dry or flaky-no biggie

I agree to that Criosphynx.

How often should I bathe my dog isn’t the same as how often do I want to bathe my dog? As an advice from my vet, I should be bathing my dog once per month... this is often advisable for silky long-coated dogs as my yorkie named Fog.

Also, in any case, all dogs should have a weekly brush or comb regardless how frequent you bathe your dog.

Just figured out we are going to bath Mikey in this weather!

Current Conditions

-32 °C

He was stinky and had to have a bath-and it's sooo cold out-so we bathed him last night right before bed and that way he had the whole night to dry before going outside. He was actually pretty dry after towelling and brushing-so he was nice and dry this morning. At any rate-any of you with stinkers in a cold climate-bed time bath tip

With my first bichon, he had sensitive skin, so we bathed him with oatmeal shampoo.

Our rottie got bathed rarely.

Our lab gets bathed maybe once every couple of months, unless she's dirty. She starts to shed even more profusely after a bath...so it's not that great. Generally, she doesn't need baths very often.

Our bichon was bathed once every 2 weeks or so. I've read bichon website recommending baths once a month, but my bichon would've been filthy by then. Her coat collected anything dirty very easily, and she LOVE, LOOOVED getting dirty! Strange, for such a dainty-looking dog. But oddly enough, after every bath, she'd be so happy--she knew she was clean and would rejoice by going crazy jumping on all the beds in the house! She was full of contradictions :P

We also had our bichon professionally groomed about every one to two months. Expensive, but they did an amazing job clipping her fur--and she would attract so much attention afterward with the little bows on her ears!

OH and about the tomato sauce...if your dog gets sprayed by a skunk (which my dogs never have), the tomato sauce comes in handy. Regular shampoo won't get the smell out completely. I've heard that it turns white dogs slightly pinkish though!

If your dog has allergies and skin that is suffering from it it is actually beneficial to bathe more often. You just aren't using the right shampoo and conditioner.

that's a good question... i've never heard that you should bathe them more often myself... (i've only given my dog 3 baths in the last 7 months and it doesn't look like he'll get another anytime soon)...

so what shampoo would you use for this?

I give Cooper a bath about once every 2 weeks, because I've heard that giving them frequent baths breaks down their skin... Does anyone know a good puppy shampoo?

I think anything with oatmeal in it is fine to use. I always buy tearless just in case
