How long do you spend grooming?

Just interested in how long everyone spends on grooming their dogs.

For my two, baths take about 30 mins for both together, Wash, rinse, dry, get them excited. If I lose sparky, it may take longer, because as you can imagine, he finds it extremly fun to run around covered in shampoo. And it's actually kind of fun.... I bath them every two weeks / when I am not being lazy and they smell

Clipping sparky's coat took me an hour yesterday, with breaks. clipped him short all over, used scissers for the face and most of the legs. First time doing it, and had no help, so am happy that he looks ok. Just wanted the coat short for the coming warmer months.

Brushing for deedee is about 5 minutes every week or two, more if she is shedding. For sparky, it really just depends on how long the coat has been, and whether he has been walking through bushes and has half a forest stuck in his fur.

Nail trimming happens professionally when needed. I'm planning on doing it myself soon, but I'm so scared of hurting them, even if I am not even near the quick lol.

Think thats all... Sparky sometimes needs eye goobies cleaned, but his diet seems to stop them. They get raw bones almost daily for their teeth.

Mine get done every month, and when I was learning, I swear to you, it took me no less than four hours to do ONE with a bath+blow dry included!

Now, thankfully, I can do one in an hour and a half including bath, blow dry and coat prep, clipping, furnishings trimming, nails, and ears plucked.

Maisy is easier because at the moment she's pregnant and I've taken everything off her belly so she doesn't have to deal with me combing her skirt. Takes me about ten minutes each dog weekly to comb and slicker all over, and I comb the beards and feet every other day as they tangle easier.

Mais after her groom last week.

Freddy after a recent groom (didn't take pics of his clip recently because, erm, I was too lazy to prep. I'm due a new blade anyway, eep.)

I have a pyrenean shepherd and she very rarely requires any sort of grooming except to prevent her hindquarters from cording, and I only have to do this once every couple of months. She gets burrs and other things stuck in her fur but they seem to just fall out of their own accord in a few hours time.

I only bathe her once per season to remove any built up smells she may have accumulated. She seems to love coming into the shower with me and will stand patiently while I gently wash and rinse her.

I spend a lot of time on grooming...

And most of that is on my pekes!;)
I wash their wrinkles at least every other day (only takes a minute or two). I brush them out completely 2x a week (about 30 minutes per dog per session) and give them a quick combing at least once a day (less than 5 minutes). I trim the fur between the pads of their feet at least once a month (5-10 minutes per dog). Nails are clipped once a week (5 minutes per dog).

On the other hand, my Min Pin and Dobie are super easy. I use a kong zoom groom 2x a week to brush out loose hair and wipe them down with a damp wash cloth as needed. As far as baths, they are bathed as needed, so probably only get 2-3 per year. Nails are clipped weekly (less than 5 mintes per dog). And thats it! After having to groom pekes for years I am really enjoying having dogs with so few grooming requirements!

Not much. 10 minutes a week total to brush my three down, and maybe another 10 minutes every two weeks doing nails. They get bathed whenever they need it which isn't often thankfully. Two of my dogs love baths and the other one hates them. Best case is I have one dog trying to break into the bathroom. Worst case is I have two dogs trying to break in, while the dog I'm bathing tries to break out.

My mother is on the opposite end of the spectrum. She has three full-coat havanese. She ends up spending 90 minutes every two or three days brushing dogs, 4 hours every week bathing them, and ten minutes every Sunday doing nails. Tons of work, but they look stunning once groomed.

Blaze probably takes me a hour and a half with a bath, full blow dry, brush, trimming and shaving of feet. nails, ear cleaning.

Solo takes prob 15mins lol.

But I bring Blaze in to work with me, so I dont know how much he really takes, as I do him in stages as I work on other dogs as well.

if I bath him at home, takes me about 45mins, but then its a bath, full blow dry with a HV and a quick brush, no trimming, nails ect

Mine take about 1 hour each but then I like to dry the completely. If you want a safe way to do nails try this, it is hard to hurt them with a dremel.

About 7 minutes to brush Cassy. But i only give her a bath in the summer time, when it's hot outside, 'cause i use the hose outside and fill a bucket of hot water from inside. And when i do that it's about 10 to 15 minutes, maybe 2 to 3 time a year. And drying her is about 15 minutes. And then she gets groomed maybe 2 times a year.

I like her hair LONG. She looks like a real Collie when it's long! :)

I run a comb through Aero for a couple of minutes a day. The others don't need brushing often so I do them maybe three times a month and throw in a furminator somewhere in there

Lily gets a bath about every 3 weeks. Wash, dry & brushing takes about 30 minutes top. We have to keep her coat short now because she can't go to the groomer's that often so now we're planning on going to the actual groomer every 3 months.

Emma gets a bath every 4-6 wks. Wash, dry & brushing takes me about an hour. Every other time I take her to the groomers to get her paws shaved down and her nails cut really short because she won't let me take too much off of them.

Lola's wrinkles are cleaned about every 3 days which only takes a minute or so. I only bathe her every 2 months because her skin can get really irritated. She only takes about 15 minutes tops.

My dogs get brushed a couple of times every month. They'll get brushed more during the spring and fall when they're blowing their coats.
They get bathed every spring and fall and when ever they need it the rest of the year.

Brushing everyone takes a few hours, sometimes more when they're blowing theirs coats.
Bathing takes half a day. lol Especially with resistant huskies who hate water. I usually split it up and do half the dogs one day and the other half the next day.

Nail trimming can take either just 5 minutes or half an hour depending on how many dogs I do (and how cooperative they are). Sometimes they don't need nail trimming all together due to lots of exercise. :)

Every other Friday we do baths and ear cleaning. Only takes about an hour for the both of them.

Have you thought of an undercoat rake? Makes fast work of the shedding Newfs we do.
Yes, I'm gonna have to get one. I'm going to replace most of my brushes before next spring so I'll add one of those to the list. :)

for rinsing Kalysta (the one time I have so far, but, eh, she's only been here a couple weeks!) it was all of 15 min in the tub. (she had never had a bath before, but, I don't have any dog shampoo yet. So was just a rinse with water kinda bath to get SOME of the grub out.... the water came out black.. blech.)

she's got thick, short hair. I picked up a brush and she seemed to enjoy being brushed out. took out a lot of dead hair and she stopped itching as much (though now she's on her second debugging meds, so no more baths for a month)

Nails were ground down enough from living, except her dew claws. They are so overgrown, that the vet is going to take care of the first cut when she goes in for her spay while she's under anesthetic as it's likely her quick has extended and we don't want her getting a terrible impression of nail trimming. Even then, the first few times will likely be at a groomer.

So... 45 min is what I'm guessing for wash/dry/brush
