Yes I will be careful, I have a blunt end scissor and I typically use a comb to guide before I snip and today I just played around with my old electric clipper with plastic guide. I was able to trim under his paws without it cutting him... the plastic guide is awesome.

This is way too much fun now hhaaha.. I should have done this from the beginning... got lazy that's why I ended up taking him to the shop.

Thanks for all the advice.. i'll be careful with the tools around the pup

The exposure is NOT going to bother your dogs skin again it has poodle in it and they are accustomed to working in all weather shaved - and it will grow back.

I think what PoodlePomMom was referring to the Poodle, not the goldendoodle as a "working breed".

as a groomer its really really hard to groom so many "hybrid" breeds. So I usually look the dog over explain to the owner the coat is not golden like (texture length etc) or it is that of a golden and explain why i would trim a certain way. i explain the tools i will use and what s/he should look like when I am done. This usually allows the owner to make a special request. By the second appt we usually know exactly what can be done and what the owner wants to see. I wouldnt give up just let the groomer know you would like the hair in the inside corners of the eyes and between the eyes trimmed with a clipper and under the eyes and down the muzzle you want thinned so it lays a little flatter and shaped using scissors.
