goldendoodle got shaved under eye

I don't know how to ask this....i'm kinda pissed at our local petsmart groomer. Took my pup to have him trimmed for sanitary area and hairs that may cover his eyes. He came out with under his eyes shaved like a poodle. I am worry about him not growing it back.. it pissed me off so much I don't even know how to tell them what they have done.

You do that to a poodle!!! Not to a goldendoodle... Now my question is.. how long does it take for my dog's hair to grow back from under the eyes? Does anyone know if this anyway harming my pup? I heard it is very sensitive to the weather.. we jog a lot .. and in seattle its kinda cold right now. I'm worrying right now..

yes he is..

but have you seen a goldendoodle without its fluff hair around the face? Shaving it makes it look rediculous and exposes its skin to the weather. Its suppose to be a trim.. not a hair cut. I swear I never go back to petsmart because of this.

I can understand your frustration but at the same time if you didn't state exactly what you wanted done when you went in you can't really blame the groomer. Did you specifically tell them what you wanted done?

i don't think i would blame petsmart for this error. the "goldendoodle" doesn't have a specific coat/standard appearance that people are familiar with for, well, obvious reasons.

just stress to them you want a trim next time without any shaping.

People groom their poodle mixes in lots of different ways just like a purebred poodle can be given many different trims!

Remember fur grows back! A "bad" trim is not the end of the world.

So relax and remember to be much more specific next time. Even bring in a photo of what you want done! That way there shouldn't be any miscommunication between you and your groomer!

a mutt like a "goldendoodle" is a mix, there fore has no "standard hair cut" to follow. Yes I have seen them with shaved faces. Seen them with beards and eye brows like Schnauzers. Seen them with fan tails like shit zus and lhaso apso's. So they can be groomer very differnt. Its no more harm to your dogs coat then shaving his body. Since each golden/poodle mix I have met, they all have differnt coats.

Next time you will have to be much more specific.

What people who own these mutts dont relize is that they normally mat very easily. Was he matted on his face alot? could have been, which then it might have been safer to shave his face. how old is he? have you worked on grooming him every day? Maybe it was safer to shave VS using sciccors around his eyes.

Theres lots of reasons whyt hey could have done this.

I dont trust PS groomers as far as I can through them. Majority dont have any real training. (Yes I know for a fact) id stick with going to a private name shop.

We did specifically tell them that we want hygiene area cleaned. Hairs that is in the way of the eyes cut. I wished I could be more specific with photos.. my mistakes assuming they know what they were talking about since everything I say, they say "I know what you're talking about." I'm more frustrated at myself to assume too much.

Oh well, damage is done... I'm just venting I guess.. feel bad for the pup. My wife decided we learn how groom on our own since the pup is very mild temper and easily maneuverable to trim.

Thanks for all the clarification guys.. I know now to bring photos instead of explaining.. but why bother.. I do it myself *i may regret saying that later on though*

I want to warn, be very careful with scissors and clippers around a dogs skin, espescially a puppy's, and especially around their faces. Puppy skin is more stretchy and loose than adult dog's skin and it can be easy to nick or seriously cut them. Even if a puppy is easily handlable, they can squirm and lose patience and you want to be careful you don't accidently harm them when they do do that.

but aside from that, I wish you luck with either your own grooming or future grooms at a grooming place.

this is why I groom my own dogs You can get clippers at walmart for about $40 to do simple things like sanitaries and trims.
