Yes that's often why bunnies have tattoo's from breeders. In fact I sort of understand-we had a lot of litters at the shelter so I used permanent marker in their ears to mark males from females

(permanent marker in ears is where you write your info in case of an emergency evacution where you have ot leave your pet behind-in case collars get lost =so apparently safe)

I can totally see it-sometimes you have 20 babies all looking exactly the same Sooo you gotta mark them somehow -one litter we were lucky-lionhead cross had babies when she came in (thats always how females come in-pregnant...) and her two lionhead babes were female and the two with no manes were males-easy peasy

I know-be convenient to have some 'spayed' tattoo.

I read this terrible story (with a rabbit-I can *hear* the eye rolls I know your all going-not another rabbit story Mikey!! )

But anyways rabbits have an 85% chance of sex related cancer by age 3 if not spayed. So this rabbit shows up at shelter with a spay scar, and they don't spay. Turns out they only removed ovaries (spay in rabbit is generally ovo-historectomy and that's important) soooo bunny has to go thru cancer a) because it was done wrong and b) because they did not know where/when/by who she was spayed by Soooo yeah tattoos'-I'm thinking...awesome!!

Man crio, you beat me to it! :P I was about to say that all 4 of my ferrets had/have dot tattoos in their ears.

I can still see where Jinx/Jynx's belly was shaved. You can even see where the incision was made too.
