Treats and a lot of touching and slowly steps. I also move around the dog and surprise it with toys.

^Agreed, Beuford like's to chew when getting his nail's done so he alway's needs something to occupy him with like a tennis ball

Do you give vitamins to your dogs? My father used to give his Dobermans one Vitamin E a day.
