I let my Border Collie sleep on the bed, I remember reading that it is actually a good idea to do so as if the dog was in the wild he would be sleeping with his pack and so it helps our doggies to feel safe and part of the family.

As for me, they all sleep in the bed with me, lol. But it's up to them. As long as they are well mannered, no problem for me. Sometimes Chloe will sleep out on the couch as well, and sometimes Lucky sleeps in his crate with the door open, but most of the time they are on my bed with me.

We have a queen - Chloe & Skyler have always been allowed to sleep with us. If either gets too warm or wants a change of pace they sleep in a dog bed on either side of the bed. Neither roam the house at night. We also have a cat that sleeps on a pillow above my head and another that will often snuggle the hubby at night. Often, Skyler, our 6mo aussie, will lay on my chest & lick my neck to let me know he either wants snuggled or has to potty, while I am loving on him he will often stretch over to the hubby and lick his face to wake him up.

Informative Post. I have been questioning whether it is okay to make my new rescue sleep in his crate at night in another room rather let him in bed with me and the other 2 dogs and 3 or 4 cats that sleep in it all ready. I was wondering what to do once he is settled in. I would rather not add another dog to the bed, as it is pretty crowded now. From what I've read, it seems like it will be okay to do that. I've been feeling guilty; I don't want him to feel left out or unloved, but I also want my sleep.

He's only been with me 3 nights and cries for about 5 minutes then goes to sleep. I don't think he even knows the other 2 dogs come into the bedroom with me. I put him in his crate first and he can't see the bedrooms from his crate.

Should I feel okay about leaving things as they are or put a crate in the bedroom for him to sleep in? I figure if he can't see the other two on the bed he won't know any difference.
Thanks!

My new bloodhound sleeps on her own bed. She was allowed on furniture at one time, but I don't want to wake up in a pool of drool.

All the dog's in the house get to sleep in the bed, or on the furniture.

Beuford alway's sleeps with me, or else he get's scared and will pee lol... My bedroom and the kennel are his 'safe spots' what is mine, is his hehe.
He will sleep on the bed most of the time, and i only get like not even half, he take's up the whole bed. which is fine with me, or he will sleep on the floor... i am hoping to get him a dog bed... so he can sleep on sometime's too if he want's to.

They love bed,I'm sure Suzy would love bed too,but that would never happen!
Lizzy has the choice of three beds,
Toby has the choice of 1 bed.Mine
Every night I share my single bed with 2 dogs
They take up more room then me.Toby takes up half the bed,Lizzy the other half.
I love them for it though. It's nice to know that there are other people that let their dogs share beds with them.I tell people that and they look at me like I'm mad I know I'm madly in love with me dogs though

Tonka and Chloe sleep in bed with me every night. This keeps me from having to stay on-alert all night. If something's going down that I need to know about, I do. They like to mess with me, too...especially if I've been out tippin' a few back. They'll sleep in till noon when I have to get up for work in the morning, but if I've had a few drinks, they jump around and bark from ~5am until I put them outside....
