What do you keep your food in?

I've always wondered whats the proper way to store the dogs food? I use to use a large plastic bucket with a lid but the was told to never use plastic as it will make the food go stale. So now I'm stumped.
Currently I only buy the 7 KG bag because its small enough to fit in my cupboard, but I would love the buy the huge bags. What do you use for food storage?

I leave it in the original bag but put that inside a plastic garbage can. That way there isn't a bunch of built up ick (that is a scientific term) and there is still an airtight and vermin proof seal.

I also keep it in the original bag and just store that. I don't know that it's a problem if you keep it in a plastic container, but just make sure that if you put it in a plastic container that it's NOT in a hot place - heat can make plastic give off certain chemicals that are not healthy. I'd just watch out for that.

I put the bag inside a plastic container in my pantry. I know someone who has a giant schnauzer and she just puts the food in a metal garbage can in the garage. One of my friends just puts the big bags into a rolling plastic thing for her two dobermans and there doesn't seem to be any health hazard, because it was made for dog food, BUT i guess it's up to where you live because the plastic CAN give off harmful chemicals if it melts or gets too hot...

this, from what I understand is the best way to go....when you pour the food out supposedly all the air gets in there and it goes stale...

Mine goes in a rolling plastic bin...I have tried to keep it in the bag, but it never fits/closes/sits right...so I pour it out. Meh.

We bought a trash can with a lid. (New of course) and I pour the food in there. Never heard about the plastic problem. Guess I will keep it in the bag from now on, still in the can of course.

When we fostered I went threw dog food so fast I dont think it ever had a chance to go stale but now... when what is in there runs out I will wash it out (as I do ever coule weeks) and just put the bag in from now on.

I wish I lived in a hot climate. I'm in eastern Canada. brr.
Maybe I will do just the plastic bucket, my hubby can get them from work and it would be a heck of a lot easier. I'll try it and see how it goes.

We keep it in teh bag inside a container usually. It keeps it from going stale Basically you are feeding a product with a 6 month or better shelf life-not much to do with it

I feed raw, so I portion daily meals (RBM in one and MM and OM in another) into plastic freezer bags and then store in my chest freezer!
