yeah thats y I wan to switch because he wount eat any kind of dog food we give him. we even bought crappy food just to see if he would eat it. BUT NOOOOOOo he has to jump the gate and climb the counter to eat the cats food and he eats clean cat litter. >_< I've tried so hard to keep him out but he just finds a way to get to it. He loves table scraps so I think a raw diet would be best for him.

How to feed your dog ? Dry dog food based rations and Amounts for meals you make yourself : vegetables, meat

you choose the ingredients : vegetables, meat and the program calculates the quantity to give to your dog

I think BARF is not only about amounts (in fact that's the easiest part ) but it's what you feed and if you offer all the necessary ingredients and supplements a dog needs!

If your older dog is having problems with dry dog food I would try the BARF diet. Grizz might do better on the raw diet. If it was my dog I would try it. I had a dog that had a lot of problems with the dry food. It either made her sick or she didn't like it. Or she would eat it for awhile then stop eating it. I tried a lot of the expensive natural foods but still had problems. I had used the BARF diet for quite a few years until I got her. Thought I would try her on dry food but it didn't work. I raised 5 dogs on the BARF diet and changed 2 older dogs that were left in my care, over to it,before I got her. So I went back to it, since the others did so good on it.

Raw or home cooked are great ideas, for any dog, any age, IMO! Your dog seems to be telling you he wants something besides boring, processed, dry, brown nuggets his whole life. I think it would be like eating sea ration biscuits or military rations. I know I would crave something fresh and real!

I have a friend who put his old dog on raw when given 2 months to live due to cancer. The dog took to the diet, regained his energy and lived an additional 2 years.
Let us know how you make out?
