I offered to help you locate a breed specific rescue agency that not only has more experience with this kind of thing but also has the funding you don't. If you are comfortable with turning down any help then there really is nothing any of us can do. Internet recipes wont fix this dog. I believe the penalties you speak of that need to be harsher for animal cruelty should also be extended to those who don't do the right thing, by not giving the animal every possible chance for survival --such as yourself.

If someone were to give you the money needed to give this dog the 24 hr expert medical care in a clinical setting, would you take it? If a Vet offered their services for free would you then let a professional handle the situation? If the answer is "yes" then you admit the animal would be better off with more care than you can give him, both with your limited knowledge base and financial instability. Finding a rescue/haven who can give this boy the best chance of survival is not something you should dismiss or deny him....to do so, is almost as cruel as the neglectful act that put him in this dire situation to begin with.

Sometimes good intentions only go so far...

Well said Mischief!!!

SimplyLiz, I really do hope that this Boxer pulls through. I am glad you are trying to help him, but I agree with the others. He absolutely needs medical care! I am extremely glad to hear that you have decided to take him into the vet.
I also hope that if he needs more care than you can provide, you will be willing to look at other options such as turning him over to a rescue. Afterall, when dealing with such a situation, people really need to do what is best for the dog!

And just a reminder to all!

OMG that picture is simply heartbreaking. I am glad to hear that you were able to arrange to see a vet after all and that he is responding to your treatment so far. I hope everything checks out at the vets office and that there is not any permanent damage.

Please let us know how the vet visit goes.

People are trying to help you. The snarkiness is not appreciated.

Please update us when you have seen a vet. Thanks. The end.
