Same food for different dogs?

Ok, I have 3 Totally different dogs. There's a 2 yr old very active Italian Greyhound, a 1 yr old rather lazy chihuahua, and a 1 year old active Shiba Inu. Is it "ok" to feed them all the same food and just different amounts? It's kinda confusing to me cause the chichi and the iggy technically should get the same amount of food on the back of the bag but their metabolisms are so different. Or should they be getting different foods? I know it's kinda a dumb question but nutrition has never been my strongpoint. Thanks!!

what food are you feeding? i'd say that most of the higher quality foods would be okay to feed to all those guys... and yeah, in whatever amounts they need...maybe just feed your chi a little less....

Yeah, I have two shih-tzu's, and a lhasa..I do a very high quality food called Nature's Variety, for the kibble, and then also add a tablespoon of canned food (Sometimes Merrick, Nature's Variety, or Weruva) to it..They are all thriving on it, and seem to love it..I think its mainly about the quality of food as opposed to the breed, and if you are feeding a good food, I'd say keep on keeping on.. The only thing that would come into play is if one of your babes has digestive problems, allergies, or is overweight..

I have 3 days and I'd go crazy if I had ot have different food for all of them. Just control the amounts and get them some exercise and they should be fine :-)

Some people say that you should feed active dogs high content of protein and less for less active ones however, I have 2 Yorkies that have totally different level of energy. One is a loaf and the other is in my face at all time and they are doing fine with the same bag of food. I am using Nature's Variety and I rotate the flavors of this food.

Everyone gets the same food here!
I just adjust the amount based on age and energy level.

For example both of my pekes are about the same weight. However, Pearl gets 1/2 cup total each day while LeRoy gets 3/4 cup total. This is because LeRoy is still a puppy and needs more food now than he will as an adult.

The back of the bag is really only a general guideline. Feed the amount your dogs need to stay at a healthy weight.
