How much food for an almost 30 pound pup?

HOw much should be fed to an almost 30 pound 8 month old pup? Hatchi's been eating close to 3 cups of food per day - split into 3 meals. I'm trying to cut down his noon time meals cuz the kids won't be coming home for lunch soon.
Someone said that their dog eats about 3/4 cup per day or 1/2 cup or 1 cup at the most. I'm asking because I find that he's pooping a lot (or there are cats pooping in my yard too). And maybe I'm feeding him too much food. Although all three bags of food he's had in the past say that he should eat between 2 1/2 -3 cups of food per day
He always scarfs down his food right away and seems hungry afterwards too (or do dogs eat till they puke?) I'm slowly reducing his intake but I'm worried he'll be lethargic if I do. He,s not fat or even pudgy, he's very slim.
I'm trying to get him to have less runny stools - although from what I'm reading - American Eskimo's tend to have sensitive stomachs. He's currently on Nature's Domain - Salmon.

The answer to your question is that only you can know, by putting your hands on the dog and examine him to see how his weight FEELS. You should be able to easily palpate his ribs and hips, but he should not be overtly bony.

Adjust his food accordingly, up if he's too skinny, down if he's too heavy, the same if he's just right!

3 cups sounds like a lot of food for a 30 pound dog, but its possible he really needs that much. Sometimes big meals can contribute to loose poo. What brand of food are you feeding him? The type of food also affects the amount and consistency of the poop.

He's on Nature's Domain - Salmon - he used to be on the Kirkland puppy food (chicken) and pretty much all his stools were smooshy they seem a bit better now - darker too (cuz the food is darker) but I may be feeding too much - he's down to 2 cups now and I'll go down from there after
