I live in Cincinnati, the headquarters of P&G, and I will not feed my dog Iams or Eukanuba for 2 reasons...inferior ingredients and animal testing. It's your money and your dog so the choice is yours...I protest with my wallet.

I agree with the previous statement that Blue Buffalo is the best Petsmart sells.

spoil him with treats and stuff since it is a little cheaper.
Use your treats to supplement the diet (plain old dog food no matter what quality) and make it more interesting.

Hot dogs, 'Rollover', cereal, carrots, blueberries/raspberries, steak, chicken, fish, duck, venison etc etc-many veggies and fruit are awesome for dogs-and meat is always good hot dogs and cereal are great training food/treats plus meal supplements

Ok thanks everyone for the advise I went to tractor supply this weekend and the have taste of the wild and so I did the math and the Tast of the Wild will actually be a little cheaper than the Blue Buffalo so my next question is if I get the bigger bags and store them in something like a tuppaware container how long should it stay fresh? He gets a cup a day mixed with a tablespoon of canned food so a large bag would last a long time which maybe handy in the rig because there may not always be a tractor supply close by.

it will last a long time. We kept Minnie's kibble in a diaper pail and it would keep all month until we got her new food. Good luck with finding a good food. I'm on that journey with my Charlie right now. I had him on BB, the Eukanuba and then Wellness. I liked Wellness but it's just too expensive I might find a tractor supply and try TOTW

Choosing just the right dog food can be a very tedious process. About a year ago, I came to the conclusion that my girl had food allergies, so I began the quest to find a food that would not aggravate her skin. She now eats the Blue Buffalo Fish and Sweet Potato and she LOVES it! I hope you can find just the right food for you both!

Thank you I am slowly switching him to Taste of the Wild I bought a bag the other day and when I opened it I spilled a few pieces fell on the floor and Charlie cobbled it up. LOL I was surprised because he normally has to have it mixed in with a little canned food but he must of really liked the taste. Even my moms dogs like it and one of them is the pickiest dogs I have ever meet. LOL

It will last a long time We buy the biggest bag of Orijen and Mikey is only 42lbs-they are meant to have a shelf life.

However as brought up before-if you take the food out of the bag into a tupperware container-your going to need to clean it. Try bleach and hot water soak inbetween bags of food? And keeping it in the bag of food is totally fine too

I plan on keeping it in the bag inside a tuppaware container just to make sure it does not spill out in the truck.

Tractor Supply has a new private label dog food that I'm trying on my Shelties right now. It's called 4Health. We're doing the Lamb and Rice first. Not all bad and we got the 18 lb bag (smallest they had at the time and I wanted just to try it out) for $20.
