Greenies Dog Treat Maker Settles Class Action Lawsuit | Itchmo: News For Dogs & Cats

You can see several people's recent experiences in the comment section. While that may not be the most reliable source, it certainly scares me to know those accounts may be true.

As a previous poster said, I don't really care if they reformulated the product, and that also doesn't appear to be the only issue. Choking is another big concern. I decided against Greenies before knowing anything about them based on my concern that my dog could choke on it (especially given that enormous warning label on the front of the bag). I could see him struggle to eat and swallow it, and that made me very nervous about giving them to him. That's just my experience. People are certainly free to buy them for their dogs, I just play it extra safe. There are plenty of other dental treat brands with clean records that have never killed any dogs.
Thanks for the up to date info And ditto

I agree, yes people's reports can be unreliable but you know what-it's not worth the risk to me -there are lots of other options

I want to toss in that they call their treats 'All Natural" and "healthy" which is pretty much like saying 'makes you shoot rainbows out of your body'-it holds absolutely NO water-as these claims can be made on ANYTHING as they are not FDA regulated.
Pet Food Labels - General
Quote:
Many pet foods are labeled as "premium," and some now are "super premium" and even "ultra premium." Other products are touted as "gourmet" items. Products labeled as premium or gourmet are not required to contain any different or higher quality ingredients, nor are they held up to any higher nutritional standards than are any other complete and balanced products.

...

The term "natural" is often used on pet food labels, although that term does not have an official definition either.

....
"Natural" is not the same as "organic." The latter term refers to the conditions under which the plants were grown or animals were raised. There are no official rules governing the labeling of organic foods (for humans or pets) at this time
