| | Personally I believe that all dogs should recieve smaller portion meals atleast twice a day...I've always fed Luke atleast 3 times...but we're not on a set schedue, he's not crated so he can go out to pee wheenver he so chooses. I know not everyone has that option but definitely I'd feed more than once and no free feeding. I'm not sure how feeding your dog twice made him gain more weight, when in reality, the more smaller meals we get throughout the day, the better our digestive system works and the more our metabolism kicks in. It's the same idea as with humans..if you only eat one big meal a day, your body conserves fat and calories more than it does if you were eating more often. Just my opinion, and if you had a large/giant breed I'd DEFIITELY tell you feed atleast twice,no question.
