My little ones get Zukes, Twistix, fresh fruit and veggies (carrots and apples are their favs) . I also use diced up Natural Balance food roll and Dognation refrigerated treats all of the time for training.

Well, for special treats my big lug will get dried fish stripes or dry-fish. (No preservatives and home made the old-school style.)

my dog gets some people food, or as we call them, 'OOPSes', i feed her sometimes by hand too... I am such a good mommy..

she gets charliebear cranberry and turkey flavored treats and beef liver cubes dog treats when she gets her nails clipped.

I try not to give her TOO much people food in a day though.

We bought a small package of Canine Take-Out Bac'n Bits on a limb, just to see how our dog would react to them. Turns out, she absolutely loves them, and they're great for training smaller dogs. We break the individual treats into four or five smaller treats, which works great for training. We also like Old Roy dog biscuits, but they're hard and difficult to break into small pieces for training, so those are more of a treat for kids to give when they come over, for particularly good behavior, or for play. ^^

I started making these and now now dogs turn there noses up at store bought. If you have the time they love them and then you don't have to worry what's in them.

Oat Cookies
2 cups of oat or brown rice flour or (whole wheat if not allergic)
1 cup old fashion oats
1 cup sunflower or pumpkin seeds
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast ( optional )
4 tablespoons ground flax seed
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup unsulfered molasses
2 eggs with 1/4 cup rice milk or water

Mix all dry ingredients together in large bowl. Mix all wet ingredients in small bowl . Then mix both together and knead for a few minutes. Put on greased 17x11x 1 inch cookie sheet and roll out to fill cookie sheet. Cut in even squares or leave whole and break into small bites for training. bake at 350 for 30 minutes. You can also add a couple of spoons of peanut butter to change the flavor ( just make sure there is no sugar in the peanut butter)

Wellness Wellbites, Wellness PureRewards are absolutely awesome and last quite a while.

I also like dehydrated chicken or liver as high value treats. We use the NRG chicken and I forget which brand of liver.

Ziwipeak's dog food work great as treats. They make basically air dried meat as food but it's completely balanced so if you're training a lot, you don't have to worry about nutritional imbalances from too many treats. However, Ziwipeak costs about $25 for 2 lbs..it's extremely expensive.
