Dog dying of old age, can I feed him GOOD food now?

All of my dogs life we never fed him human food (he'd grab some whenever hed get the chance), but now its pretty obvious hes dying any day now.

Can I start feeding him human food (since he LOVES it)?
Or in his state will it just be too hard for his body to digest and handle?

Im thinking meat or really anything that isnt human food, he loves all food that's not dog food.

Also if anyone has a better place for me to post this than here that'd be great, thanks!

How do you know the dog is going to "die any day now"?
If you haven't had your prognosis confirmed by a vet, you should.

That being said; I wouldn't go overboard with the human food...maybe a tid-bit here and there. Too much human food could really mess him up if his body/immune system is compromised. I think a "last meal" would be fine, but I've never had to put a dog down before - so take what I said with a grain of salt.

IN MY OPINION if it was MY dog (or myself or someone I'd love) I'd do whatever they/I loved if there was only a few days left in the lifetime. It is your decision ultimately though. If your dog is going to pass away from illness I cannot see how it can "hurt" too much more, than if your dog was healthier and ate it all the time.

(what I posted in the other thread about this):

We have spoiled all our dogs rotten when we knew they didn't have much more then 6 months or so to live. We tried to avoid things we though would upset stomachs, but they all loved it and looked forward to dinner time. Anything to give them something to look forward to, I say.

When I turn 90 I want a dozen cartons of Winston Cigarettes (I quit in 2005)!

I would think some things are ok, like meats, but no cooked bones or anything on the list of dangerous foods for dogs. I hope your beloved pets passing is peaceful.

You only live once. If it is healthy and easy to digest then I would go for it. There is nothing stopping you using cooked mince meat instead of a steak. :-)

i agree with everyone else, if it isn't going to cause pain/discomfort (new foods, even when they are healthy can cause diarrhea and vomitting)... i would stay away from anything that is really rich and maybe give him stuff that will help to bind stool like cottage cheese, yogurt and rice...

i hope that the rest of you time with you friend has happiness in it, for both of you...
