| Which brand should I choose? Hello all! I've asked food questions on here before, but I'm gonna ask again about a few particular brands.
I've finally got a job, and I'm going to start buying the dog food. Right now they are on VERY crappy food. The first ingredient is Corn... and it's the cheapest stuff on the market. My dogs eat it, but it's definatly not their fave and from what I've researched it's not healthy for them. I've been looking into three different brands: Evo, Taste of the Wild, and Orijen. My dogs are very active, spending most of the day running around outside and we often take them on pretty long horse back rides. I don't do any competitions with them. They are UTD on their wormings, shots, and just recently had a vet check. I'd be feeding the food to Ace and Marlie. Ace is a 2yr/old border collie. When we took him to the vet a couple weeks ago, he was weighed at 51.4 lbs. Marlie is a 7month old GSD, until these last weeks she has been on IAMS Proactive Puppy Chow. She weighed in at 58.4 lbs. However, now that our summer is really starting to pick up I'm noticing they are starting to get a slightly underweight again. So now, I'm looking for a food with good nutrients that is better suited for their energy needs. I'm wondering, how much food a day would I need to feed them each? (I free feed now because our food isn't very good. Once I get good food though, I'll starting feeding them twice a day.) Also, does anyone know how much a bag of it cost? I would be getting the biggest bag possible. Thanks everyone! Meanwhile, I'm going to keep looking into it aswell! :] |

| all 3 of those foods are great. i cant say for sure which one you should pick, because im not sure which would work best for your dogs. i do feed taste of the wild though, and i love it. i know taste of the wild is cheaper than orijen, but im not sure about EVO because not many stores carry that here. what you will pay for a bag of any of those foods depends on where you live. |

| Awesome! I was leaning towards TOTW because out of the three it seemed the cheapest for good quality (although, again that all depends on the area as you have mentioned.) I was pretty sure a local feed store carried it, but now that I've been looking at the TOTW flavors, I'm not so sure. I remember glancing at a bag of food with elk and deer on the cover. I can't really remember the brand, but it seemed like the TOTW layout? I didn't see that picture/flavor on their website though. I don't know, we've got to grab a load of hay from the feed store on saturday so I'll be able to peek around and see what they have! If they don't carry any of the brands, there are two other feed stores I'm going to call.
Another question! Would TOTW be okay to feed my 7month old pup? I can't remember if they had a puppy chow or not? I mean, I think it would be better than what she's getting now, but I don't want her to be getting too much of something. If they do have puppy chow, would it be okay to feed to my Adult dog (Ace 2yrs old)? Thanks for replying guys! |

| nope youre fine. TOTW is all life stages. also some places, if you buy a bag of food and youre dog doesnt like it, you can take it back, no questions asked, for a refund. |

Thanks for replying guys! | If you have a costco near you you can get Natures Domain which is made by the same company as TOTW ( Diamond ) $28.00 for 35 lbs I think they only have fish and potato. |

| Ahh, okay! I'll have to ask about that when I visit the store! I'll also check to see if they have a smaller bags that I could buy as a test to see which they like best. Quote: |

| Actually, we do have a costco in the area and I believe my mom has a membership there. I'll definatly look into that! Maybe I could just get a few bags at a time that will last me awhile because we don't make it down that way very often. Thanks for the tip! |
