I feed my dog Canidae (no platinum, which is the senior version) though it is kinda expensive, I originally had her on iams when she was a year old (at the time I got her) she was kinda scrawny and her fur pale-looking, and she had been with a foster for 6 mos.! Then with the advice from our obedience trainer who raised dobies (not that that matters) we switched her to canidae. and everyone comments on how shiney her coat looks, the color of it intensified and she filled out nicely and I know I am feeding her a healthy kibble I probably would want to eat if I was a dog.

Personally, I am not a fan of raw diets for my situation (if others want to do it, go for it!) just because I know the kibble she gets is already formulated with nutritional needs being met, it would be inconvenient for me etc.

I think vet food is crap, sorry, but even when I worked at a vet's I didn't appreciate the diets for the typically healthy dog. If the dog has a medical condition, that might be a different story.

I think any food that is without corns and fillers are good overall.

I feed raw. Takes me about a hour or 2 to bag up about 3-4 weeks supply. I hardly find that time consuming. I have 3 jobs (well techincally 2, But I do walk my neighboors dog for 1-2 hours a day and get paid for it. so another job). I find plenty of time to do the RAW.
Costs way less then preimium dog food. I spend maybe 30 bucks a month if that. And thats only becuase I just buy from grocery stores. As I do not have an extra freezer for just dog food so I can not buy in bulk. Much better then the 45+tx orijen I was feeding him. Which still made him sick (as well as pretty much any other type of dog food out there)
Blaze never puked, not once, starting on RAW.
Ive been only doing this since August. But I think it is awsome. And Blaze's stomache also seems to tolerate it. 100% different then when he would eat kibble.

I honestly don't know anything about Raw, but how are you certain your dog is getting the correct about nutrients? Did you have it approved by a vet? My fear with raw is that my dog would be losing a nutrient that they need.

This is mainly why i don't do raw, and I am too lazy too :P I am bad enough about trying to give my reptiles a variety of foods (which most of the times I end up not giving a WIDE variety) and making sure I remember to give them their calcium supplements on occasion. so I wouldn't want to do that for my dog too, it would be too much for me.

Some people do very well with it though and are good at that stuff. I kinda admire that LOL. I know of one lady who has like 4 cats she does it for. She has really odd hours and long hours with her job too, but it seems to be the best option she has found for her cats and she likes it. I first heard about it from her. I can understand about wanting to KNOW exactly what is in your dog's diet though and know that whatever they eat YOU are giving them instead of maybe the ingredients or values for them are potentially slightly varied from bag to bag of kibble.
