| Best dog food out there? I've been switching back and forth from a lot of pet store food brands and none seem to be the high-quality food I'm looking for.
So what's the best dog food out there? |

So what's the best dog food out there? | what do you mean that you've been switching back and forth? and which foods have you been trying? what do you mean by quality?
i feed kirklands. it is made by diamond pet foods and sold at costco... decent food for a decent price...(i can afford it) but i so supplement with good protein sources and all of our treats are of good quality
the brands i hear of most as higher quality are wellness, orijen, taste of the wild...but there are others that are good too...you want to look for foods that have a good level of protein, and that don't have corn, soy or wheat... basically you want to avoid low quality ingredients and fillers...

| I get Nature's Variety at the feed store. No grains, no glutens, no artificial stuff. Tzu's have a tendencry to be allergic to grains, so I just decide to avoid it all together by never feeding them grains to begin with. I do the Prairie Kibble from Nature's Variety, and then I also do the Raw Medallions twice a day..When I mix their kibble at night I use a tablespoon of Merrick Wet, Nature's Variety Wet, or a new food that they LOVE called Weruva! They think its the greatest thing ever..why? Because its $3.50/Can!! Of course they do!! lol. |

Don't worry, I've done the whole slow change, putting the old with the new, slowly increasing the amount of new in the old. Don't worry.
The foods I've tried are Iams, Eukanuba, Purina, Nutro, to name a few.
By quality I mean healthy, not the processed, by-product-ish stuff. I mean the real, good stuff that is healthiest for dogs. I'm not going to go all raw or anything but I just want to make sure he's getting the food he deserves.
Thanks for your answer, by the way. |

| I feed Taste of the Wild. I've tried several brands and that is the one they do the best on. I also like that there are three "exotic" flavors to choose from. If you contact them, they'll send you free samples. |

i'm not a fan of the brands that you mentioned... there is a lot of controversy over raw, i would like to do it, but it really isn't feasible for me at the moment... *sigh* one day, but that is a different story and off topic... anyway, i'm sure you'll get lots of responses to this question... |

| it really depends on your dog. what kind is it? age? weight issues? allergies?
this kind of question can be argued for days. everyone has an opinion and dogs do well on thousands of foods. it all depends on what works for you.
what caused your desire to switch? was the dog having problems with previous foods? the dog foods you listed are fairly similar in ingredients: fillers, sugars, by-products, etc. |

| When I got my Border Collie, Gwinny, I asked my vet about foods and he suggested Hills, you can only buy it online or the vets and is quite a bit more expensive than the shop bought but well worth it. |
