I had also read up about eggs & spoke to my vet about them. He recommended 2 eggs a week - so 2 a day is rather excessive & can be dangerous. As previously said - I would find a good quality kibble and feed that.

I'd have to say-unless your dog is a hundred pounds or more (Size of a small human or better) -then two eggs a day is WAAAY too much. Not that they cannot digest that much-but think about how much of the diet is eggs-1/3 of the diet as you stated.

Eggs are great food. They are also full of cholesterol and that's why people cannot have two eggs for breakfast everyday-so if we (arguably over 100lbs) cannot have two eggs everyday-then that's way too much for your dog (unless he's giant).

I'd cut back -Crio's example of five a week between five dogs (so one egg a week) is much more on par with a varied diet.

Dogs can certainly eat rice and vegetables. But before you go cooking away for your dog-you need a quality kibble that they get every single day as well (OR you need to have a vet balance the diet for you-do not feed 100% home made food without that help or you could be asking for big health problems) Cooking a portion of their food is fine.

Next-study up on what's toxic. A lady I work with, very well meaning almost gave her dogs avacado-and why not? It's a super food for us humans right? Great stuff in avacado. And it can kill your dog. So make sure you know what's ok and what's not ok.

I just think 2 eggs (1/3 of his diet) is too much

But eggs are certainly fine-I'd give maybe 1-2 eggs a week.

Throw in some *cooked* salmon (tinned is great and cheap-raw is not ok it's poisonous), hamburger, steak, chicken, rice, bread, cereal (lots like cheerios), carrots, berries, potato, broccoli, lettuce, cucumber, etc etc

Make sure you don't feed food that's not ok-some lists-we're currently compiling a comprehensive list of those not ok-but in the mean time check these lists and google to ensure what your feeding is ok Also a lot of lists include milk and diary-dogs can be lactose intolerant just like people but for the majority of dogs-these are fine.

and just google-they are all incomplete lists-always feed something new in small amounts to ensure your dog tolerates it.
