| I'll get us back on track. We were not looking for a dog at all. Knowing we would be moving back to the UK, I couldn't work so I volunteered - at the school, at the local pound & at a horse sanctuary!! I just fell in LOVE with Billy as soon as I saw him. Big, boisterous, no manners what so ever, but totally soppy & great with my kids. Perfect for us, he came home that afternoon. I always tell DH "at least I didn't fall head over heels for one of the horses"!!! |

| we weren't looking for a particular breed, just a dog to *fit* our family. After meeting many many many dogs and none of them were right for us I was starting to get discouraged. I saw a post for Bella online and she seemed to be good but the posts are never honest about everything. We went to meet her expecting a really hyper dog that runs as soon as the door is open, but to my surprise after the inital meeting she was very calm. Very gentle with the kids and stayed in the guys yard. We fell in love and brought her home, she's been almost perfect ever since expect for the fleas and jumping when someone first walks in the door.
Doesn't help that she was already named Bella and I *heart* Twilight |

heheh my only limit is self imposed M names-my parent's did not intend it but after Mike, Max, Molly and Mandy I'd be hard pressed to not continue!
| LOL, my animals all have to be named after themes. Opal and Jasper are precious stones. My husband has a German shorthaired pointer named Ace. Plans for a German wirehaired pointer are in the works for this spring and he/she already has the name Duece. The same goes for the horses', ducks' and rabbits' names...all themes. |

| Well, I was looking for a dog to fit my "needs" and as I am a guy who wants to have it all an all around dog breed would fit perfectly. I also have a tendency towards GSDs and look alike dogs...but finally I tried all the all-around dogs lol!!
It was very different with Liza. I think it was more like a bet with my self to try owning a poodle...which I thought it was a sofa-barking-mean dogs....but now she is one of my fav! |

| Ahh this will be a long story. Well when I was four, my mom brought home to puppies, Chucky and Angelica. Angelica was a german shepherd mix and Chucky was a saint bernard mix. They ended up taking Chucky to the pound because he was to big for us kids and attacked Angelica constantly. Then we our first dachshund. Then we got a chihuahua. Then a boston terrier. Ended up getting three bostons, but they always gave them away after a year or two because they were so jealous. Attacked the doxie multiple times. Then we got another dachshund. And another. And another. Then when I turned 10, I was sick of dachshunds. So, I talked my parents into getting me a big dog, an american bulldog x husky mix named Brutus. Well I don't think I was mature enough even tho I loved him to death. He couldn't be let inside, so the parents gave him away. Then I got a pitbull, love of my LIFE. I never wanted her to go. But, my mom got pregnant. She was to big and hyper, so they gave her away. I cried for three months, so then they got me another pitbull mix. He has corgi in him so he was a shorty, yet he bit the baby, so they gave him away. I still missed my first pit, and wouldn't settle for anything else. I was about 15 at the time, so I tricked my parents. I saw an add for "lab mixes", and I called and they said they had some sort of bully in them. So then I picked out a puppy, had the most pit in him. Now he was the only dog that took the place (not memory) of my first pitbull. But then he bit the baby, he knocked over my dad's 55g aquarium and killed all the fish, got out many times and was picked up by the pound, and after fighting so hard and long, they gave him away.
So, as you can tell, my parents are not good dog owners. Never once took them to the vet, except the doxies. Pfft, dog racists.
So until I can get a job and move out, I'm stuck with doxies.
When I do move out, I plan on getting either a lab or pitbull. But doxies have grown on me, so I figure I'll end up with another at some point in time.
Soooo, I guess my breeds are pitbulls and labs.
Mainly because I love big dogs, labs are great agility partners and that's what I want to do, and the love for my first pitbull still lurks in my heart. |

| These are GREAT! I like reading why people have the dogs they do And some have a very pointless reason to why they ended up with the dog they have, but I am glad they have them. They are happy, and so is there doggy(s)! |

| My "breed" I chose/ love of the dog breed I chose developed kinda by accident. The story is that when I was looking for my 1st dog, I originally was going to get a pit bull cus I loved the breed and had my eye on this shy female named Angel. But the day I went to go put an application on her she was euthanized that AM.
The person helping us find a dog recommended this Doberman/Rottweiler Mix, and she was the second choice. I adopted her, and named her Roxy. She was the best 1st dog. you wouldn't think that such a "strong 2 breeds" dog would be a good first dog for a family but her breeds I think worked in our favor, because she was soo sharp, quick learner, submissive towards us due to loyalty and was just an overall sweet velcro dog. Very gentle, her breeds were meant to be that way and guardians/ to take care of people.
I just fell in love with her breeds. For my next dog I wanted the same 2 breeds mixed, but instead got Emmy, the dog I have now. I went through a Doberman Rescue because I of course loved Dobies. She is exactly the same way as Roxy was. My "therapy dog", loyal in every way possible, a velcro lapdog, sweet with everything etc. I just love all the qualities of a Doberman. (of course, now looking back at pics of Roxy, she looked more Rottie than Doberman, when in the past I thought it was opposite, but she is what got me hooked on the breed/s).
