someone here recommended a border collie

Whilst Border Collies are fantastic dogs (its actually pretty obvious I think that cos im owned by three of them , lol) they do have their downsides
They need a lot of training and input .... because they are such a highly intelligent breed its so easy for them to get into bad habits that can then take ages to train them out of .... they can get bored very easily and a bored BC can lead to a wrecked house , so mental stimulation is just as important , if not more important than , physical exercise , and the physical exercise for this breed is mega important , my three could run all day , flop after their tea and be ready for another couple of hours run 5 minutes later , lol

I wouldnt ever say a BC isnt for a first time owner , we all start somewhere ... but that owner needs to know all the pitfalls and the cons before considering this breed

just wanted to make a note...

if you go through a rescue you're going to have to lie about loekin. These rescues can be uber picky and will likely reject your app if you have a rehome on it.

haha, No. But if you were a rescue and had put tons of time and money into a dog would you give a dog to a person who just gave theirs away?

I understand your point of view and what happened. Iam just saying don't be shocked if the rescues and many shelters have zero sympathy. So if you do decide to save a life and rescue your going to have to fib to get a dog from them. Not saying thats right/wrong whatever, but it is what it is.

Beagles are awesome, low maintenance dogs that will steal your heart almost immediately...

I will have to bait you a little...This is my little Cleo as a pup.

MV, Crio has a good point. Here is a short but true story for you that happened to me. In August of 07 I adopted a Boxer mix from one of our local shelters she was an awsome dog and I loved her to pieces. But then in Oct of 07 I had a really bad car wreck were a lady rear ended me and sent me to the hospital were I had an MRI done well the MRI found that I had a brian tumor not caused by the accident but anyway they sent me to a specialist he said it was the size of a small grapefruit and the only cure was to remove it he said before the surgery to have everything in order because there was a possiability that I may have side effects like not being able to walk or control my hands and that there was a small possability that I may not wake up after the surgery, so I made the very hard decission to rehome my sweet Trixie. I did a home check as well as getting vet references and such so I know she went to a good home. Then after my surgery when I was all better about 6 months down the road I decided to go adopt another dog from the same shelter I went and found one I liked but then when they put my info in the computer they saw that I had adopted Trixie from them and they asked what happened to her and I explained the whole situation to them, I even offered to get a note from my doctor as proof but they still would not let me adopt another dog from them because I had rehomed Trixie if I had kept the womans number I gave her to then they may have but with everything else I was going through I some how had lost it so they told me no.
