Question about my Aussie

Hey guys, I was just wondering about a few things about my dog.

1. I was wondering when Australian shepherds get their mane, my dog is 1.5 years old now and she doesn't really have a mane. Do some just not get the mane? Or will she get it later? If you want I'll post a pic.

2. My dog is a blue merle, yet she has some spots that are brown/red merle (the ones on her head/ear and one behind her front left leg) Is this normal? And again, I'll post a pic if you want.

3. Any suggetions to cool tricks I could teach my dog? She already knows: Sit, Stay, Come, Lay down, Drink, Stand, Up, In/Out, Play dead, High five, Take a bow, and Stinky (where she pretends there is a bad smell in the air and rubs her noes with her paw to try and get rid of the fake stench).

I would like to teach her: Danger (where she growls protectivly, anyone know how to accomplish this?), Speak, Roll over... suggestion welcome (including the how to teach)

My Aussie has a short single layer coat and doesn't really have a mane. The hair is a little thicker there but not by much- your dogs parents may shed some light. My aussie is from working stock.

Anything! My aussie learns the quickest of all my dogs- and I have a border collie as well. YouTube some clicker training, there are usually some pretty cool tricks. JustJesse197 has some really great tricks and kikopup has some cool stuff too.

Have you heard of clicker training? All of these can be easily accomplished with that method =]

Pictures Please 8)

also if you could post a picture of the type of mane that your refering to. The mane on a show dog is significantly different then the mane on a working dog which is different than the mane on a pet dog. What mane does your dog have and what are you wanting or expecting it to have?

I don't do clicker training with my dog. I do it the old fashioned way (good girl).
I would like to teach her, but I need to know how I can teach her. I know with speak, I have to get something she barks at...ect...
but for that trick "Danger" I don't know what to do really? Anyhelp here?

Here is a video of a rottweiler that has been trained to growl on command:
YouTube - Diesel our dangerous rottweiler

This is what I mean, but obviously it won't exactly be the same with an aussie.
Now I just need to know how I can teach it to her!

Oh, I forgot to say- you should read the comments on this video. It's funny how people think it's stupid and that the dog will eat her one day

lol, I just totally saw where you said what it is in your OP. I swear I looked for it earlier...sorry...tired.

You would say your cue "danger" and then show her or do whatever it is that makes her growl. Then you would say YES! and reward. Repeat repeat. Eventually the dog will have it only on the verbal cue. Make sure you always say it first, and that you are positive she will do it.
