| where I live, next to chis, pit bulls are the most owned breed. I very rarely run into breed bias since most people here have them/love them (comparatively). In fact most people want to stop and pet her, and fuss over her. I get many comments about what a good looking dog she is.
When I look at dogs, I don't see breed. I see dog with X issues and B size and Y energy levels. Different combinations of those factors affect whether or not i like a dog, not the breed itself. I have met pit bulls I found very annoying, som' I have found scary, and som' that I adored. This is true for all the breeds I meet. |

| Tee hee hee, well, I must say growing up and hearing about dog attacks and how many people feared them, made me wonder growing up about these dog attacks that were called pitbulls. (I thought it was a breed of fighting dogs.)
So, everyone feared them and when I asked about it, everyone's reaction was they are dangerous and unpredictable dogs. (They haven't met the Saint Bernard that attacked my dog when I was little and walking my alaskan husky for the first time.)
But as I got to know the different breeds, I realized that these pits are not to blame but the owners. The first time I met a pitbull was my sister who bought one from a breeder in Anchorage. That dog was sweet, but a bit unedgy around me. (She wasn't socialized very well as a puppy) but she was veru curious and from watching her, she was the sweetest dog I've seen. (Red nose pitbull terrier) Well, if you read about the adoption post I posted you will get an ideah about what I went through. But man, the puppy, (even though a mix) was very energetic, very smart in catching on quickly, and the most loving dog I have met. Very affectionate and I was a bit worried at first, but have grown to love him. I was so close in adopting him myself too, but I wasn't ready to adopt a pitbull (had very little knowledge about the breed)
I met another pitbull (I know it's pure but I don't remember which breed it was.) Was the most loving and gentle girl I have met. When I approached her, she immediatly layed down and rolled over and gave me that look of, please please please rub my belly. (Very cute look by the way.)
I agree with everyone here. Any breed of dog can be made 'vicious' by the owner. It's the owners who are bad not pitbulls or any other breed of dogs. |

as for the OQ...I love the APBT..as you can see from my name and my sig |

as for the OQ...I love the APBT..as you can see from my name and my sig | actually when most people (not educated on specific breeds) say pits they refer to everything from APBT, am staff., etc. not just the APBT itself. so this dog could have been something other than a APBT. |

| in my opinion i would NEVER trust a pit no matter how good it's life has been. I used to know this pit, the owner was a dog trainer, and she was one of the most aggressive dogs i have ever met.I have had nothing but bad experiences with many pits. |

| I've never met a vicious pit bull and I've worked at a veterinary clinic for almost two years. Many many people own pit bulls in my town and the surrounding areas. I run into more vicious Labradors and plenty of small dogs. But, it's just the owners fault, not the dogs. |

But I understand what you mean....the OP could have meant pure AmStaf Staffy etc etc...when I read it I got the feeling they were talking color Posted via Mobile Device

That said, I trust Pits more than many other breeds because I feel they show their true colors. They either do NOT want to be approached or they want to. They are either aggressive, unsure or friendly. I found Shar Pei's to be the one breed I always asked owners if they were friendly when working at a vets office. Chows were next on the list. |
