Papillon question

Hi there,

This is really not just for the papillon fans and breeders, this could be for any breeders really.

I have found a breeder who claims to own four papillon puppies for sale. The funny thing is when I asked for proof, she refused to give me the picture proof and gave me one that she claims a nother owner had asked to have a picture taken with her and all four puppies. So she sent me two photos. This person was also very rude when I asked questions afterward. (A big red flag) Anyways, I studied the two pictures and noticed that the blaze marking on two of the females in both pictures are different. So my question is, with a few months, can the white blaze on the papillon's head change? Is it possible there are actually 6 different puppies instead of four? And if that's the case, I am going to let that person have it in email that I caught a scam.

The pictures are on a clip. Not sure how to do the picture in the message thing.

Thanks
Naten

The pictures are on the attachment.

My only thought is run far away. A good breeder will literally talk your ear off about her breeding, feeding, training and showing. SHe should have LOTS of pictures and she won't be rude.

It's either a total scam (no dogs at all) or a puppymill/backyard breeder.

And I'm certain those two dogs below are not the two dogs above.

Welcome btw

Yes the markings can change some (darker markings will norm cover some area that was white before) although not that drastic. The pictures you posted are not of the same dogs in the second photo. Also the pups in the second photo appear to be a week younger than the ones in the top picture. Regardless I would not talk to this "breeder" at all. Don't waste your time. Like the others said it is most likely either a scam/or a very bad person, such as a mill or back yard breeder.

Papillons are my favorite toy breed by far! They are great pups and I encourage you to look for a responsible breeder. It is well worth the wait. They are so full of energy and love

Welcome to the forums by the way

To get an idea on markings... here is my Oliver as a baby & then now:

Thanks

Thank you guys. I sort of figured it was one of those scams. Especially since I noticed the difference and the sudden rudeness when I asked if she could take a specific picture which she said I'm not a complicated person and dont' want complications.

I just wanted to make sure before I go accusing someone. I don't want to accuse someone and thought I would get some info.

On another topic, I had fallen in love wiht the Papillon too and I used to call them when I was little Bat dogs. (A few of my friends whom I told am looking into buying those little treasure never heard of a papillon and when I describe them, a light goes off and their like, oh, you mean a bat dog.)

Anyways, thanks again and I'll be extra careful.

Oh by the way, thanks for the welcome. I didn't see an introduction part... Maybe I missed it or looked passed it. (Love reading about what others posted.) and I love Oliver. Can I keep him? (just joking.)

Yeah looks like a HUGE scam to me.
I am getting a puppy form a breed VERY soon and I have been waiting on my puppy since he was just a week old, now he is 6 weeks and when i first called her about them, we talked for around a half hour about them and she sent me 5 pics EACH of each puppy, and there was 7 puppies total (5 x 7 = 35 pics!) The lady calls me all the time to tell me about him and she send me tons of pics of him every week!
Thats how a good, loving breeder should act!!!

NOT rude

Good luck finding a REAL puppy for you that you can ACTUALLY get!

I haven't over looked rescues.. The problem is, the nearest shelter or rescue is in one of the bigger cities. And there is only three breeders that I found on the Papillon kennel club in my area. Out of the three, only one has responded to me. So, I was looking in other breeders closest to my state which is California. Or even Canada because it's the closest. So, not many Papillions in shelters. (BUt that is a good thing.) And I don't know if the other shelters say in Cali will send a dog up here. I was also wanting to try out agility and obedience. (Anchorage has all that including something called dock dive??? Never heard of it, but I looked into it. I had to laugh becuase my current big lug can't stand water. He cries bloody murder every time I give him a bath. So I've limited his bathing to only when he really stinks.) From what I read from the AKC that only registered dogs can compete. A dog from the shelter? If I happen to find one, would I be able to register her so I could try compete???

Oh and MyValentine... Wow, that's a lot of pictures. Thanks for the luck. I may need it. Oh, I've reported the emails to a website that deals with scams to warn other people not to trust this person(s). I found the website where I looked into the puppies and found the same picture which lured me in, but it is a different name and email now. They are going at it again.

I just want to add that not all breeders have themselves listed online on the akc breeder referral lists. If you go to the papillon club of america website it lists:

PCA Corresponding Secretary
Email: secretary@papillonclub.org

You can send them an email and just let them know where you live and they can possibly help you out with other breeders who don't list themselves online. Sometimes the best breeders don't even list themselves online so it might be a good idea to check that out. I hope that helps, and I know what you mean about not finding Papillons in shelters. I have looked and it's rare to even find one in a rescue that resembles a papillon. I hope you find what you're looking for. Also, advice... don't be in a hurry like I was. I would have done a few things different when looking for a breeder than I did when I bought Oliver.
