As he gets older though, he clearly doesn't have the build of a heeler, and people we meet on our walks keep telling me he looks like a rat terrier. He's a pretty good size now at 5 months, he weighs about 22lbs, which the vet said will put him at about 40lbs full grown. He has big bat ears, long legs, long tail, and a more graceful build than a purebred heeler. Oh and some of his litter mates that he came in with had his same build, but had red heeler coloring, white with red speckles and patches. So what do you guys think of him?
I do not know what breed he is, but I do know you have one adorable dog!!
What a sweet face! I have heard of people sneaking a dog into a litter and saying it one of litter mate. I had dog that looked nothing like her litter mates and I know she had to been from another litter. My dog was brown and had short fur and the other 2 puppies had long hair and where multicolor . They where like night and day!

Wow!

I can't get over how alike my dog is to yours! I went to get his shots today, and the woman suggested he was an Australian Cattle Dog mix. Looked it up, and saw Boone's photo, and I went insane! Your dog's head is a different shape as my dog's, and Boone's tail seems longer, plus his ears are different, but you can see some same characteristics!

Hmmm....maybe blue heeler but I think houla mix....but DF posters...didn't we think Blizz was rat terrier mix, not dobie?? (months ago). Didn't Digger's post say all heelers have a spot on their head?? Does that happen even if it is a mix??
Cute dog!!!

You're right, he does look a lot like Boone, especially the pic by fence, that looks like Boone's "worried" face . He is a lot more built than Boone, he looks more like Blizz in body type. If we're going by color though, the three of them could be triplets!

Yesterday was the day we approximated to be Boone's first birthday. He's has outgrown some of his puppy misbehaviors and shyness and has settled down to be a friendly, mellow dog. I've started doing some agility with him and he is awesome at it! Looking forward to many more years with my Boonie!

Haha, that's great! You can really see it when they're side by side like that. It took my family a minute to find Boone too
