But alot more is going on that what is visibly showing on the dog. I own mixed breed dogs and how found these sites VERY helpful. Dog Coat Colour Genetics Dog Coat Color Genetics OFA: Genetic Deafness in Dogs Classroom: Genetics
and my favorite...must read these...the story of the bobtail boxers. GENETICS |

| thanks for the post, this will keep me busy for a couple of weeks! i mapped out my cornsnakes once....when i had cornsnakes and bred them. i had a normal(red/brown black etc) and an anarethrystic (sp?)(i think that is the right term, a grey color w/o any red pigment) that i bred, we ended up getting two amelonistics(no black pigment) and a cornsicle (white and pink).... |

I breed corns | oh gosh, i need to correct my post! i bred 2 anerythristics together to get that mix, sorry!
(i did have normals too, and they were bred also....but that wasn't their clutch)
i didn't try for anything actually, i didn't really know what i was doing at first. i got my snakes when i was 16, and i didn't know a thing about reptiles (except that they are fascinating) i got a book about breeding after i figured out the female was gravid and a friend incubated them for me. i only bred a few of clutches, it really wasn't for me, i had a really hard time giving them up, baby snakes are sooo cute! and i felt really responsible for them. i miss my snakes a lot....
anyway, now i sort of want to map out the dog too!....i blame you |

your telling me...Iam holding back 7 babies this year. I should post pics...lol
I used alot of this info to help me figure out Emma (my mystery mutt) I have a good idea of what her parents might have physically looked like now (color, leg length, ears etc)
Most people just think yellow and blue makes green you know?
My neighbor had two pups, siblings....one looked undeniably beagle mix and the other looked like a full blood border terrier.
Dalmation mixes, for example, come out as solid black puppies...but no matter how much I tell people... they insist that their white dog with a few spots is a dalmation mix

yes I admit the sites are pretty wordy. I couldn't have understood it if I didn't have snake breeding background... I still hope even a few people will find it useful |
