Malamute/Labs, Malamute/Lab/Wolfs and Malamute/Wolfs are all my family has ever owned. My brother had a lab once, and I currently own a Dachshund and a Boston Terrier (Beagle cross? Not sure.)

EDIT:
Oh! And I owned a Pitbull mix of some sort with my ex fiance (really awesome dog), but she got him (along with most of the rest of my stuff) in the "divorce" and I got the Boston Terrier.

I grew up around Dachshunds and Boston Terriers, which is what my parents owned. My childhood dog was a cocker spaniel/shih tzu/terrier mix type dog. And we also had a yellow lab.

As an adult, I've owned a Pit Bull, and a Poodle mix.

Now I have 3 Shih Tzu's (1 is possibly a mix), 1 Beagle and 2 Beagle mixes, 6 Dachshunds, 1 Chihuahua mix, 1 Dalmation/English Pointer mix, and 1 Whippet mix.

I had a black lab/blue heeler cross as a kid. My first dog (that was all mine) was a golden retriever/yellow lab cross. Then there was a lab/shepherd/dingbat cross, followed by our first Dogue de Bordeaux. Two rescued pit bulls and now our second Dogue de Bordeaux. I loved all my dogs but my favorite breeds are DDBs and pits.

Benji looking mix, lived 18 years. Schnauzer mix, lived 17 years. Greyhound lab mix, 17 years. Now we have a Catahoula leopard dog who is 3. All were great dogs in different ways.

I've had a good split of mutts and purebreds. I've had, started at age 10 (I'm 55 now):

Twilight - Poodle Mix
Daphane - Maltese Mix
Willie - Boston Terrier
Laddie - Sheltie (was killed by coyotes when only 2)
Autumn - German Shepard
Gage - German Shepard
Buffy - Lab
Shane - Beliguim Sheepdog
Pierre - Poodle (current)
Sugar - German Shepard
Nooker - Husky Mix
Caffee - Long Haired Chihuahua
Radar - Papillion Mix (current)

Plus half a dozen dogs that were rescured and rehomed. Most were mixes but one was a lovely and very sweet Rott.

Shaw, Zeus was what I call a dog of my heart. I've had two of those, one was a poodle mix and the other was a Boston Terrier.

Radar, my newest, is already a strong candidate for a third dog of my heart though. Hopefully your little Aussie will one for you.

When i was a kid we had a Curly coated retriever he was black and his name was pouncho.

he had to be put down due to a few health problems and i didn't have a dog for a good 7 years.

When i moved in with my partner after a few years of living together we rescued a lab and had her for a while, we where more like foster folks for her and we re-homed her to a lovely family who have land!
Then we got another rescue but she was a tri coloured Kelpie x BC and we also re-homed her to a cattle property being a cattle dog, A good one at that!

When i sold my horse I had already dreamt of owning my favourite breed of dog which where Siberian huskies, I decided to look into getting one and i left some money aside for it, I spent quite a while searching and i found a breeder a few hours from me who had some decent dogs! I went and had a look at some puppies and with the knowledge i had learnt i got Joey my 4 and half month old red and white husky, We visited the breeder a month or so after getting Joey and we took home another (she was offered to us!).

Well, let's see.

As a kid, we always had Cocker Spaniels - had to be English and Black and Female, it seems. All had to be named Jeannie.

Then, I took in a few dogs:

- A Sheepdog mix of unknown breed when he was small. A surprise growth. Called him Monty
- Some sort of terrier, brown - named him Charlie
- Another terrier, black and white - called him Boots cz of his white feet

After I married, we got:
- a toy Pomeranian - named him Randy
- an American Eskimo Spitz - Called him Nikki

They came with me when we split. After they died, I got:
- an abused American Eskimo Spitz from the humane society I named Kobe
- a lab/chow mix puppy from a woman who couldn't care for her - called her Cindy.

And after they died in 2005-2006, I went back to the pound and found a Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) who was about a year old. Named him Tyler. That's him in my avatar, the day after I brought him home.

We took a walk in a beautiful forested park near me. In this shot, he's looking out from atop a hill at the surrounding countryside. Can't imagine what he could have spotted that got him so interested. We were several thousand feet up with nothing but space in front of us.

But he's very intelligent and has sharp eyes. He could have seen a squirrel in a treetop way across that open divide.

I've added pictures of Nikki, Cindy and Kobe in my Dogs list.

Sylvia
