Designer Breeds, Hybrid dogs, pure bred mixes

Okay, these dogs have started to become popular. So I thought it would be neat to find out what you guys think about this questions. Any and all are welcome to post, but please, let us try to keep it polite. (no arguments.)

We all know that the pure breds of today were at one point all crosses of multiple breeds designed to get specific traits from the dogs they wanted. (Keen scent, pulling sled, retrivering flock, hearding, protection, lap dog, ect.)

So, here is my question, do you think the designer breeds, hybrid dogs, and pure bred mixes will become a breed of their own in the far future? Here is an example.

Dog 1 = chihuahua
Dog 2 = papillion to get started and create a chion.

Dog 3 = chion
Dog 4 = chion From a different line.

Dog 5 =Chion
Dog 6 = Chion ect.

For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, I think this example explains what a designer breed, hybrid dogs, and pure bred mixes are. The above is just an EXAMPLE. This question is asked for any designer breeds. (Thought I'd be specific as sometimes my post don't come out clear enough. ^_^ )

I don't like the term designerdogs. For i think obvious reasons. Lot's of people who buy a dog because it's a fashiondog don't know what thet are buying.

The breds you use for you're example are not the most healthy ones. So, if somebudy want's to create a new breed they should be very carefull which dogs to use.
I simply think that there are to many breeds whatsoever. So i don't like the idea of even more fashionbreeds. I think there are so many dogs who are lokking for a good home alreaddy that i do not see the point of making new breeds. I would go for making the breeds that are already here as healthy as possible.

IMO Hybrid dogs or Designer dogs as you say like all breeds should have a reason a purpose to be bred together. Example: Poodle + Labrador to make a hypo-allergic dog.
I think these breeds have more potentials to be recognized either as recognized hybrid breed or as new breed. And all health and breed-characteristics should be consider from the breeder.

I think fashionbreeds should be "recognized" as BYB. A reputable breeder of a designer dog should first ask permission from the FCI or AKC or UKC etc before he/she mix purebred dogs and have a good reason to do so.

Although I agree with Natasja that there are already many breeds and we should
concentrate on their health problems I think there should be the possibility of making new breeds but only for serious specific reasons (if there are any) and only under the permission of an authority. If I make sense...

I think this is neat.

It's just for fun so make it a fun thread!
Yeah, yeah, you all have your opinions about the word "designer dogs" and ect.
But forget all that stuff.

Make this fun Use your imagination!

I think Lab and Husky to make a Labrausky
It would eventually make a short haired husky! that would be AWESOME!

For those who dont want to deal with all that long thick fur shedding everywhere and that double coat! And of course a great personality between the two!

There are millions of these so called "designer breeds" in the pound being euthanized daily. Besides a Papillon Chihuahua mix wouldn't be the most attractive if you ask me. I don't find this thread to be "fun" as someone may come along and think it's okay to breed mutts. I would hate for people to get the wrong idea.

Yes that was rescued from the pound. My adoption fee supported the humane society and not some back yard breeder. I would never give them my money. I don't have a problem with mutts that need homes I have a problem with PEOPLE bringing them into this world. My problem is with the people not the dogs. I'm not sure what you're trying to get at?

I was getting at, SOMEONE bred there dog to get Jayda. Right? Well, she is a mutt, and if someone didn't breed her mom to get her, you wouldn't have her.

So, all mutts born are born for a reason. They make wonderful dogs!

I am not saying that breeders should breed mutts, but I am saying that arnt you glad they did? or else you wouldn't have the wonderful dog you have.

Yes, SOME idiot out there did breed their dog to get Jayda...obviously. Although I have to disagree with you. No, I am not at all glad that they did. Yes Jayda is here and she needed a home and I love her to death, but it breaks my heart that someone would breed dogs and then discard them on the side of the road (that is how Jayda and her littermates were found) There's not one thing to be glad about that. I'm happy that I could give her a home where she will be loved.
