I showed it to Dave's friend who think's he's the breed master...and he got it on the first try...but I think I'm going to challenge him and play the breed game (just show him pics of dogs that have been in our threads) and see if he REALLY knows his stuff

i got it the first time.

err..and there really is no consensus on what makes a pit bull. i fall into the midline camp. a pit bull is an american pit bull terrier. the rest are show bulldogs and bull terriers. depends on how you assess what defines a breed.

thank you pitmom...i'll let clover know you think he is a cutey...lol... he loves to hear it....

just so you know tho...i don't think he's a pit...lol...i know he looks like it in my avatar pick but if you look at his other pics...i think he's too big to be a pit...leaning more towards lab/cane corso mix...but it is hard to tell... since he's a rescue...he currently weighs 90lbs...and he is about 14-15 mos old so a bit more growing

i'd love to see pics of your girl tho...how old is she? what's her name?

i find this interesting...and i've heard it before, makes sense...this "find the pit" test is cool tho b/c most people have no clue that there is or isn't a difference at all... for example my brother has an american bulldog...people see the dog and freak out that he is an evil vicious pit, but when you correct them they are suddenly okay with him, like by changing the name, he is no longer demonic or vicious...not that i've not had my own pit prejudices ( i am embarrassed to admit them, but at least i do) the more i learn the less i have, but it is hard not to have them when you are surrounded by such nonsense in the media...
the funny thing is that i've always loved pits in spite of these prejudices...weird i know....but i have been working on educating myself about them...and i'd like to have one

my stance and one other have been represented in this thread..

there are two more..

1. it aint a pit bull unless it fights. thats what a pitbulldog is..a bulldog in the scratch pit.

2. there was never such a thing as a pit bull terrier. what we have is the original english bulldog.

it all depends on how you define the word breed.

maybe we should start a pit bull thread...discuss some of the common prejudices etc? i'd really love to learn more about this breed/group of breeds/or not breed...it's sort of come up a couple of times, but nothing too in depth...
