most bully breeds have pretty much zero human aggression. It will not make a good guard dog unless people are simply detered by appearance.

I would not recommend a bull terrier to most people. They are drivey dogs and the ones a have met have had much higher energy levels than the pits I have met. Also if you own other terriers, the potential for fights increase. Its important you separate when you can't supervise as if there is a fight, niether will back down generally. The new dog should always can less energy than the existing dog.

Bull terriers are really a lot like many pitts but generally have a lower center of gravity and smaller. Just as powerful, tending to dog aggression (what they originated for ) and high prey drives. Any I have known tended to be boneheads and throw temper tantrums if they had something else in mind when you asked them to do something.....and two of those owners worked theirs in agility and obedience. (with PR training- one owner is one of the best local trainers) .
Minis tend to be a bit sharper and less patient, though you might find a mini with patience. Like Crio said....They are higher energy than you might think and definitely not to be trusted with anything they would preceive as prey. They are terriers that need to be doing something,or get bored and destroy stuff. I wouldn't get one if you have to be away to work all day. You would want to put a lot of time into one training or you would hate each other. They are not really aloof but they love their family and other people are secondary.
Around here they are hard to find, pricey and some lines have kidney issues. Obviously the whites can inherit deafness.

thanks for the videos!!! just let me say that i really didnt mean to say anything bad about rottie/pitbull breed, but u have to understand how things are here in ireland, i said to one of my friends 'im thinking of getting a new dog, we would love a rottweiler or maybe bull terrior' before i could finish my sentence she said 'oh my god are u crazy i would never have one of those crazy things around my kids' so thats the kind of opinion that most people have here. not that its right, because its absolutly NOT. we hear all the time in our news about pittbulls attacking kids, so i can see why people have such a bad opinion. anyway i just wanted to clear that up! as for the bull terrior that we want, im a stay at home mam so im always here, as for training and dealing with a bull terrier i do think i would be capable of it but thats why im here doing research before i jump head first u know. i have had many dogs since i was a kid, i have also trained as a dog groomer and also helped my auntie out in her kennels for years so i have lots of experience with all kinds of dogs just not the so called 'bully' breeds, but sure didnt everyone who has one of them have to start somewhere? my dog is a terrier but he's never destructive because he's always got somethng to do, pleanty of exercise and he's hardly ever left alone. he is however still kept in his crate at night so before we do anything about getting another dog i want to slowly get him used to be free around the kitchen at night. he is also extreemly shy and timid, i deffinitly think that any dog would dominate him because he is so nervous, if u remember i was here asking before about trying to stop his submissive urination

I know you didn't mean to say anything bad about these breeds I just wanted to show you how these dogs really are through the videos. Of course you have to be careful from whom you will get the dog as for any other breed. And an older dog from a shelter gives you the chance to know more about his character...but I don't know if they can do guard-work.

Oh and I think it's not bad for your dog to continue sleeping in his crate even if you get another dog. They can both sleep in their crates....I think!

i want him to have a bit more freedom around the house u know, i hate locking him in a cage i just dont feel good doing it, i use it only at night or maybe if its heavy rain and i have to go out for a little bit, i only started using it for house training and to prevent him from eating the house but now that he's getting older i think he might be ready to slowly be trusted on his own in the kitchen. i had only planned to use the crate for him as a puppy. hey thanskf or all the info and vidds

Did you notice the news only post the "bad" stuff about pit bulls? They never post the "good" stuff? Pits do a lot more good than bad yet the news only wants you to here what they do wrong. So please, do not listen to the news papers, ect. They don't know what they are talking about!!!

I personally think Pit bulls have better temperaments that Bull terriers, we;; what I have read at least.
But Bull terriers are also good dogs and I am sure you'd be happy with one!

Show people that bully breeds arnt what the society makes them out to be!
