Why does my neighbors dog NEVER shut up?

My neighbors German Shepard never shuts up!
I heard this morning at 3:45 & have been listen to him for hours tonight!
Why would a dog just keep barking & barking over & over again for hours?!?!?!?!

I pounded on their door tonight to complain how at 11pm their dog just dont shut up & I never even hear them say "shut up" or make that Shhhhhh sound at him or anything?
Its like they just block him out & let him bark till he wears himself out from barking? WTF?!?!?!

Its finally gotten to wear I cant take it anymore & even left a note on there car under the windshield wiper asking them to PLEASE do something about their dog never ending barking!

I didn't wanna make waves before, But its driving me crazy & we should not have to live like this, I'm paying my mortgage too just like they are & have a right to some peace!

Their dog is the only one the area I ever hear!

I'm gonna try to be as nice as I can about this with them & hope it don't get ugly.

I have noisy neighbor dogs until Betty lets loose. Then all the dogs in the neighborhood stop and wonder "what the heck was that."

get SH to record Betty. Play it to the neighbours dogs super loud.

The problem with is they'll get complaints and probably just get a shock/scent/sound collar, which will only curb the behaviour and confuse the dog.

Have you ever seen them walk the dog, play, anything? Probably bored and had heaps of pent up energy

At this point though they would pretty much know its me so....... It wouldn't be very anonymous.

Not a single time in the 5 months that I have lived here.
The father of the house claims his daughter has asthma & thats why they never let the dog in the house, yet why do they never play with him or walk him or at least yell shut up when he barks?
We yell shut up & it does help & we live next door.

The dog may bark because of various reasons. Is it walking around freely?
The most probable reason would be that the owners have not invested energy and time into establishing a bond with the animal and becoming its leader. Insecure or untrained dogs can develop seperation anxiety and that may cause barking. Is there any way to talk to its owner?

Sounds to me like it boredom. A well excercised dog is a calm relaxed dog

Actually its in it own yard of a decent size.
I've not seen the owner as of yet, I've been busy this weekend.

I Agree, he's probably going nuts with boredom, are GSD high energy dogs?
That might explain some of it being he never leaves his back yard nor do they play with him or walk him or anything..


But FYI:
Since I left the note it has been MUCH better around here......
I dont know what they have changed, but even this morning when i did hear him bark it was one single bark & then he stopped?

As if maybe they got him one of those shock collars or something?
I here they banned them, but I much prefer those to De-Barking a dog ( If its what I think it is )

I wonder if your neighbours would be happy with you helping out? Maybe offering to walk their dog when you walk your own (if it's friendly that is!).

Though beware - I did this and ended up keeping the dog LOL!
