Toe Biter!

This evening my husband had a friend over. I guess Penny nipped him on the toe! From my understanding, he took off his boots and she nipped him as he was walking into the kitchen. Then she ran off and was fine the rest of the time he was here. She even insisted on cuddling up against him on the couch.

I'm not entirely sure why she did it, as this was the first time it happened since we adopted her! I know that she hadn't had her evening walk yet, which means she had energy to spare. She can also be pretty high strung, and isn't always fond of strangers. She certainly isn't agressive. However, she would rather just watch from the sidelines and take her time to decide whether or not to befriend a stranger.

So I'm thinking it was due to a combination of excess energy, nervousness, movement, and me not being there. I told my husband to keep her on leash when guests enter from now on. I also reminded him to have the dogs stay on the mat until they are released and that he could have guests give treats (will help Penny decide she has a new "friend" sooner).

What do you guys think? Any other tips???

My feelings on that are-if they mouth and nibble toes-that's just affection. But if it's a 'nip and run' it's "Come chase me!!" One of my rabbits does this too-she'll run up and nip your toes, and I make 'scary chasing hands' and say 'I'm going to get ya' and she loves that-try that if the nip happens again
