Puppy chewing training pads...grrrrr...

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else has/had this problem - my 4 month old puppy LOVES to chew his pee pads! He knows that's where he has to do his business, and he waits until it is dry, and then it becomes a chew thing. He usually does this when we are not watching... when we catch him, we re-direct him to another toy, or take him outside instead... which works at the time.... but then the next time he sees a dry pee pad, there he goes and chews it. He has bones and toys, and still...

Has anyone else experienced this??

Yes I do have that problem-but with my bunnies who I keep on pee pads as one of them is incontinent. Bunnies have even more drive to chew

Get double sided tape and stick it down And to keep the 'persistent' dog from just ripping it up-put a toy like a towel or tug toy nearby-so when he can't pull the pee pad up he'll choose the toy.

It will come off the floor with tape for those of us with thumbs

I thought about that - putting tape on the bottom... I can predict he will see it as a challenge and pull it to rip it even more, he's quite the stubborn one. But it's worth a shot. I will also try the idea of maybe having a chew toy nearby, especially since the pee pad is by the front door entrance and he rarely has any toys there.

Usually prevent-and-redirect will work Other option is a heavy indoor potty station like this-

I have seen those - and I like them. I will look around to find a store close to me that sells either of those. I especially like the grass one, great for training to go outside eventually. Thanks!

Every puppy I have seen with one thinks it is a chew toy.
Newspaper. Cheaper, planet freindly. .. Nope, not scented....but first pee and praise and it will be and it is RECYCLING.
