Talking Biting 12 week old pup!! :|

hi everyone,
i have a 12 week old presa canrio x american bulldog, he loves dogs & people!!! whenever he sees a person he goes crazy with excitement!! he starts nipping & biting for fun, he does this too lil kids aswell, but not out of agression but out of very high excitement!! his whole but starts moving not only his tail!! , also, he stays in a kennel, whenever he sees me, he goes crazy & starts nipping when we play!! why does he do this?? he is 12 weeks old, i was told that they nip till they are 16 weeks old?? because they are teething??
what do you lot think??
thanks!

your pup is not nipping due to teething, he is doing this becaue that is was they do with their litter mates. The way i have told people to deal with this is, when your pup bites or nips make a high pitch squeel or yipe, this is what litter mate would do. then when the pup stops praise them and give them something that they can nip or bite. you MUST be vigilent with it or it will not work. 16 weeks is not a cut off, if the problem isnt fixed it could be much later. Also, the other thing is ignor the pup when they jump or nip at you for attention. get up and walk away, tell your guests to do the same. the pup will soon realize that nipping, biting and jumping are not the way to get what he wants. but remember....when your pup exhibits wanted behavior. Praise, praise, praise. and you do not have to use treats. a simple excitable voice and lots of hugs and kisses will give him the same outlook!! gook luck!

turn and walk away from those people...have you been working on sit? if so, you can try to distract him, and ask for a sit, then praise....

Glad he's doing better It's a puppy thing to nip so that's not aggression I'm sure
Ditto Fawkese-if he does that just walk away

well, explain to them that your pup is in training and once he is a sit position then allow them to pet your pup. people MUST respect this, if not when he gets bigger and is still doing this behavoir that wont like stroking him then!!!!

i am glad to hear he is doing better at home with you!!
