I don't really know if they see it as a second chance, but I bet they feel relieved to finally be around someone that shows them love & compassion like they deserve. He looks to have had bad owners in the past that treated him wrong. I'm sure he's thrilled to finally be in the care of someone that is treating him right!

He is beautiful! You did a great thing by adopting him. Can't wait to see more pictures.

He cannot eat much tho
Yeah it's hard. You want to push food but it's not the best thing to do. Frequent small meals of medium quality food (ie. not too fatty) are best. And increase slowly and then you can let them pig out

I am not sure but I think adopted dogs has a different look...I know that my other dogs love me and are loyal to me but there is something in these "ex-stray" dogs when they look at you!
I agree-my only non-adopted is Kahlua who is a princess. Everyone else seems to appreciate having a stable home and food supply-you can just tell. Both Chuck and Rupert were neglected, and they came a little overweight. And I'm not dieting either no way-they earned it-they aren't obese and they can eat unlimited food as long as they shall live. Mikey wasn't neglected but I'm certain he was abused aka trained with hitting. He was thin (not a rich shelter he was in and perhaps just not enough food) when we got hii-could see his ribs but not like Aries and he just-you just know his love is greater becuase he appreciates you more then another you know?
It's a, I don't know, totally selfish thing for me, but I love the way my adopted animals love me-feels great to be the one to give them their 'forever home'

I really believe this. I cannot wait for a few years to go by and Mikey to forget his past totally and just understand he'll always be with us no matter what he chews up and wrecks

I am SOOOOO glad you adopted him!
Ditto-what a lucky dog to have someone who cares so much about him

I don't know if Ares feels that way but I definitely feel soooo good to have him! I'm thrilled ... It gives me real satisfaction that I got him.

Oh and he does great with the others!! I was a little worry about it but he just fit in! Achilles tires him out and is a little hard...as he is with everyone but Ares likes him. He could have been a very very strong dog! They just abandoned him when he needed them the most, when he needed a place to have a corner to lay down now that he is old. Not that old...tho!

How long Pits live??

I think they live 12-14 so hopefully you have many happy years. Its no uncommon people have dogs that are 20 years olds or...well sadder that they leave us earlier. No matter when this dog leaves for the bridge it's better for having a loving owner like you

Oh that's good that they live until 12-14 I hope more!

Today he was much more energetic and started sniffing the whole house to explore! My father loved him! He likes to lay in the sofa putting his head on my legs

I wanted to ask how often do I brush him?? And is there any specific brush for Pit's coat? My father says that with a wet wipe he will be fine. What do you think?

Congrats!
Pitties are very easy to groom, you don't need a brush at all. I used to get a towel and rub all over Molly to get the loose hair out, then finish with a wet wipe a couple times a week.
