If she barks when the car stops, sit there and wait it out (don't look at her or move)...she'll have to take a breath and stop for a moment, when she does say "yes" and funnel treats. Once shes good at that you would do the same thing as you'd do with the door in the house. Get out of the car and then immediately back in.. and treat/praise( before the dog can react)...

do this a few times... get out, walk a few steps then get in again, treat/praise...etc etc...

anytime the dog doesn't react, reward them.

You'll look like an idiot training this btw...my neighbors stare at me when I did this with Tippy.

Same thing, go slow, if the dog fails, back up a step, or break it down into smaller steps.

Thank you very much. I'll be doing this because she's so loud and it's embarrassing when she barks when I'm in town. Haha.

And it's okay, I don't like my neighbors anyway. (:

Woooo Hooooo! No pooing on the carpet since we got back from the vet. He DID poo a little outside and it was still REAL runny so am hoping by tomorrow that will all heal itself.

I'm just glad I didn't have to do carpet again today!!!

My dog also has pretty bad seperation anxiety with her when I leave have a bit of a routine that helps her becuase of her insecurity, I take her out for a little short walk in the morning then take her down to where her 'play pen' is and leave her there but i dont make a big deal about it, no talking and hardly any touching. I just leave her, but when I first started I did the thing where I would occasionally open the door and see her so she would know I would be coming back and increase the time I left her alone so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But when I'm off to somewhere for a long time she tends to stick to my mom or hide in my room. when ever some one touches her or tries to pick her up she bites them and looks for me, or so I've been told. She's getting better but only going to take some time before she gets over her fear.

As for crate training I would either do what criosphynx said or try a playpen type thing, its basically an exercise pen with things to keep the dog preoccupied while you're gone. I am not allowed to keep my dog in a crate all day because of her past therefore the rescue allowed the idea of a play pen for her and it is great she doesnt seem to mind going in the pen versus her crate which she for the most part hates unless she is scared or nervous. Try putting a crate in there with something of you're scent so he can go in there and basically have your scent and reassurance when he's in there since he's attached to you. and start off in a place where he can see you such as in the kitchen or living room.

Thanks! We've now made it 24 hours with no poo in the house! HURRAY! That sound you hear is very loud cheering!!!!!!

He actually went outside again one more time and I praised him like he'd won the gold medal.

I think he may be getting the hang of this!

No poo is REAL good but someone poo'd on the rug while I was gone awhile ago.

At least it wasn't diarrhea, thank God. Had enough of that this week already!

Snoop found his forever family on Friday! I knew from talking to his new Mama that it was going to be a match made in heaven! His new Daddy and Mama just love him to pieces. Our rescue Pres. called and talked to them this evening and she said "WOW! They just love him to death!" I just knew they would. Couldn't help themselves!

It was fast! The new parents saw him on the website and fell in love.

I almost got another one today! Got an SOS call last night when the Pres of Sheltie Rescue couldn't find anyone at home. I told her I'd take the new one. She called back not long after and said one of the people she had called earlier returned her call. The other folks wanted to foster the dog with the idea of possibly adopting her. GREAT!

I told her I would foster but I need to be her "last on the list, back up emergency foster" and not to think I could keep one for a couple months. Because honestly, if I had to keep him much longer........I'd have been a failed foster mom again. He was just precious.

Thank goodness, she is very understanding.
